Corrie Star To Join Emmerdale

Former Coronation Street actress Sally Ann Matthews is joining Emmerdale. A spokesperson told www.emmerdale.org yesterday "Sally Ann will be joining us, and will begin filming shortly." They further added Sally Ann Matthews said ‘I am thrilled to be asked to play the role of Sandra Briggs. I have been a huge fan of Emmerdale for many years now and I just can’t wait to begin filming.’

Soap fans will remember Sally Ann best for playing Jenny Bradley in Coronation Street between 1986-1992 (with a brief guest slot a year later - read more by going here http://www.corrie.net/profiles/characters/bradley_jenny.html)

Sally Ann will play a new character called Sandra Briggs in Emmerdale.

Series producer Kath Beedles revealed: "Her character Sandra will be caught in the crossfire as the Kings ruthlessly battle to secure the land they need for their housing development."

Sally Ann will start filming at the end of June and will appear on screen towards the end of July. However the story with the Kings will come to the fore in August.

It is believed Sandra will have a husband but whether he will be seen on screen and his part in the King story is not yet known. It is also not yet known whether Sandra will have a relationship with anyone in Emmerdale.
