Where is Emmerdale?

This page will have a history of The Woolpack, the local pub where the regulars of the village meet. Affectionately known as "the Woolly."

Three steps The famous three steps leading into the Woolpack changed into two levels of paving slabs overnight. And no-one in the village noticed. Two steps

Richard Thorp, who plays pub landlord Alan Turner, was on hand to represent Emmerdale's Woolpack when the Yorkshire Brewers' Association arranged a get-together of all licensees of Woolpack pubs in Yorkshire and Humberside during British Pub Week in 1993.

Twelve publicans joined Richard for the special occasion at The Woolpack in Esholt, near Bradford, where the exterior of the TV pub was then filmed. The group included Bryan Hirst of the real-life pub in Esholt, which was called The Commercial Inn until he changed its name following an influx of tourists.

Countdown's Richard Whiteley's first drink was in The Commercial pub in Esholt, which was used as the Woolpack before the purpose-built village sprang up. The Pub has now been re-named The Woolpack.

3 & Cross left foot over right (3), lift the right foot and replace it 
4 Step the left foot back in place   
  
5 & Step right foot to right side (5), close left foot next to right(&) 
6 & Step right foot to right side (6), close left foot next to right(&) 
7  Step right foot to right side 
& 8 Stomp left (&), stomp right  (8) 
  
9 & Rock forward onto left foot (9), lift right foot and replace it(&)
10 & Rock back onto left foot (10),  lift right foot and replace it 
11 Close left foot next to right   
& 12 Swivel both heels to the right(&), swivel heels back to centre(12) 
  
&  Turn 1/4 turn to the left (weight on ball of right foot)   
13  Forward on left foot (2 lasso swings with right hand)   
& Slide right foot up to left   
14 Step forward on left foot   
& 15 Slight pause (&), bring right foot in place (15)   
& 16 Place hands behind head and bump hips forward twice   
Begin again
