Katie's parents (Brian Addyman & Caroline Kershaw) a re divorced and she has been brought up by her fathe Brian.

Katie was still fifteen in June 2002, however she has taken her GCSE's so was due to be sixteen this year.

Her sixteenth birthday was celebrated on 2nd September 2002

Biography:
Katie is the youngest in her family. She was left lonely and upset after her mother walked out on her and her father. Katie was noticed by Andy Sugden after they spent time doing detention together, and they soon fell for one another. Although Robert tried to split them up, they stayed together.

In September 2001 Katie was one of the seven teenagers involved in the hit and run. She was against covering up the accident, but in the end she had no choice.
Her father, Brian is very strict with his daughter and banned her from seeing Andy after the truth came out about the hit and run.

In early 2002 Katie and Brian moved to the village after his business went bankrupt and after his marriage to Caroline broke down. Katie and Andy still continued to see each other and, after several disagreements over the relationship with their parents, the young couple tried to get pregnant.

In early June it was revealed to the village that Katie was pregnant. She and Andy moved into the Woolpack, but Andy had second doubts and tried to convince Katie to have an abortion. She was deeply upset and ended the relationship. After the relationship ended, Katie left the village with her mother, Caroline.

But, after a desperate Andy turned up looking for Katie and after a long talk Katie and Andy got back together. After Katie’s father Brian announced he was leaving the village to go and live in Newcastle, Katie had to decide whether to stay in Emmerdale with Andy or to go to Newcastle with Brian. She choose to stay with Andy.

In late January 2003 Katie was mugged on her way clubbing, by
Stephen’s friends. Stephen was the son of Wilf Butler, a local farmer
who knew Jack. Stephen started helping Katie with her school work
and Andy soon got jealous.

Soon she and Andy made up again. But Jack wasn’t happy about Andy’s desire to become a farmer. Andy and Katie started squatting in the Butler house. Jack found out, but soon Andy persuaded Chris to let him run the farm. Since then Andy and Katie have been living there, with Katie sometimes helping out on the farm.

Ali Marsden soon started spreading rumours that Stephen was gay,
annoying Katie. She and Andy had some problems with his treatment of
Stephen, following these rumours. Stephen left the village and Katie moved
in with Ollie. Soon she and Andy made up again. But Jack wasn’t happy about Andy’s
desire to become a farmer. Andy and Katie started squatting in the Butler house.
Jack found out, but soon Andy persuaded Chris to let him run the farm. Since then
Andy and Katie have been living there, with Katie sometimes helping out on the farm.

About Sammy Winward: Sammy, sometimes credited as Samantha,
Winward was born in 1986, in North Yorkshire. Before Emmerdale she had small roles in
Heartbeat and The Cops. Sammy appeared on a Stars in Their Eyes special in February
2003, as pop star Christina Aguliera. There are rumors that Sammy
is to release a single with two stars from rival soaps.
