1997

January	Jack and Sarah Sugden bought Woodside Farm after the Second Emmerdale farmhouse, previously known as Hawthorn cottage, was bulldozed to make way for the access road to Demdyke Quarry.
February	On February 20th Ned Glover attacked Chris Tate for making advances to his daughter Linda.
March	On March 31st, thirteen year old Emma Cairns cave birth to baby Geri. The father was Greg Cox.

May

On May 8th Biff's father Ron Hudson died of Huntingdon's Disease.

Kim Tate returned from the dead on the 22nd

Frank Tate died of a heart attack on May 27th.

July

Linda Fowler was distraught when she miscarried in July of this year.

October	At Steve Marchant and Kim Tate's engagement party on October 16th, Alex Oakwell chatted up Linda Fowler, took her for a late-night car ride and crashed. He fled the scene of the accident, leaving Linda there to die. She was pronounced dead in the October 21st episode.
November	Kelly Windsor became pregnant after a one night stand with Biff Fowler. She later lost the baby when she fell down the stairs at Home Farm after an argument with Kim Tate.
December	Jan Glover kidnapped baby James Tate, No charges were made but Jan was sent to hospital for psychiatric treatment.
