| February | Dolly Acaster arrived from Doncaster on her moped in February to work as a barmaid in the Woolpack. |  Dolly |
| May | Joe Sugden moved into 3 Demdyke row with Kathy Gimbel. |   Joe and Kathy |
| June | Farmer Jim Gimbel committed suicide on the 21st. Events meant that he was alone an very unhappy. Daughter Kathy had caused a scandal when moving in with Joe Sugden when Joe purchased 3 Demdyke Row. His wife and son had left after Jim had hit Davy. Kathy was heartbroken and, feeling guilty, left the village, leaving Joe alone again. |  Jim |
