Review
Zak prepares to take flight - will Lisa see sense before he jets off in to the sunset? As Elaine experiences another flashback, is the game well and truly up for Robert? Terry becomes frustrated and scared by his inability to communicate.

Lisa and Zak haven’t being seeing eye to eye since his return from South America. But things between the estranged couple seem to be getting worse, as Zak admits he is thinking of taking off again. Determined not to lose his father for a second time, Sam comes up with an ingenious scheme to keep Zak grounded. But his master plan backfires when he gets his arm stuck in a pillar-box as he tries to post his father’s passport.

Sunday 26 October 2003 at 7.00pm on ITV1 Network Zak (STEVE HALLIWELL) comes to Sam's (JAMES HOOTON) when he finds himself in yet another difficult situation.

Ignoring Sam’s painful dilemma, Zak and Lisa share a heartfelt moment where they admit they really do love each other and Zak promises not to flee the nest again. Having sorted out their differences they turn their attention to Sam who is beside himself with worry that he will have to have his arm amputated.

Meanwhile, Debbie celebrates her 14th birthday and Cain decides to take her for her first alcoholic drink. Landlady Louise is riled as Debbie sips on an alcopop.

While driving with Robert, Elaine has a flashback and Robert realises he is skating on thin ice, as it is only a matter of time before Elaine’s memory of the accident comes flooding back.

Dawn is disheartened when Eddie reminds her of her uphill struggle to get Terry back on track. Confiding in Bob, she fears that she won’t be able to cope, as the severity of his condition daunts her.

ITV.COM Zak is Back...Again Sunday 26.10.03
Zak and Lisa make up
Down hearted about life in the village Zak decides to take Rodney up on his offer to accompany him and Danny to Santiago in Chile on their mission to find fertility statues. But what Zak hasn’t bargained on is Sam stealing his passport in a bid to stop his dad from leaving the country. With Zak hot on his heels Sam panics and shoves the passport into the post box outside the village shop. When Zak demands Sam retrieves the important document he proceeds to get his arm stuck in the hole! Lisa appears and another row ensues between husband and wife over Zak leaving. But when it comes to the crunch Zak can’t bring himself to leave his family a second time & is eventually welcomed back into the Dingle house.
Terry and Dawn kiss
Dawn is on an emotional roller coaster as she tries to deal with Terry’s dire situation. The villagers all offer their support but Dawn just feels as if the weight of the whole world is on her shoulders.

The doctors tell her that they are very pleased with Terry’s progress but it will take time for him to learn basic skills like speech, making it hard for Dawn to remain positive.
Robert worries as Elain has another flashback
The heat is on for Robert as Elaine experiences yet another flash back of her boyfriend being in the driving seat when the car crashed. Rob discusses going to the police with his brother to tell the truth.

It’s Debbie’s birthday so to celebrate Cain takes her to the Woolpack for a first taste of alcohol. Louise is furious when she discovers Debbie outside supping on an alco-pop.

Review
Robert is mortified when a tell-tale bruise exposes him as a scheming liar. Terry is frustrated by his slow recovery and Dawn tries to shake him out of his self-pity. Pollard tries to convince Gloria to delay her return to parliament.

After a weekend away trying to salvage their marriage, Pollard is upset when Gloria explains she has to dash back to London. Keen not to distance himself once more, Pollard offers to join her, but cagey Gloria insists she go alone. What is she hiding in the Big Smoke?

Terry becomes frustrated as he continues to struggle with his speech after the stroke. Putting on a brave face, Dawn remains optimistic insisting that he will be home in time for TJ’s first Christmas. However Terry’s speech therapist does not share the same enthusiasm. Concerned by Dawn’s reassuring words, he feels the need to warn her that if he makes a full recovery at all, it could take two years.

The sight of her badly damaged car at the garage unnerves Elaine. Desperate to recall the accident she tentatively clambers amongst the wreckage and sits behind the wheel. Robert nervously tries to convince her to leave their ordeal dead and buried. Later, Robert finally gets his wicked way with Elaine as the two end up in bed for the first time, but their romantic afternoon ends in disaster for Robert as Elaine notices the bruising on his chest.

Realising it can only be from the driver’s seat belt rather than the passenger side, it becomes clear to her that he must have been driving the car when it crashed. Eventually Robert is forced to admit the truth leaving Elaine horrified that he could have killed her.

Elsewhere in the village, Zak and Lisa put their differences behind them and rekindle the passion in their relationship.

Review
Robert finds himself on the receiving end of Ronnie's wrath but, refusing to believe he has been beaten, he sets out to win back his girl. Gloria is stunned when Pollard invites her assistant to stay but it is Pollard who is in for a shock. Ashley and Louise delight in fuelling village gossip.

Robert tells a flabbergasted Andy that Elaine knows the truth about the accident. Fearing the worst, Robert visits a solicitor to find out whether he would be likely to face a prison sentence.

Seeing red, Ronnie’s on the warpath as he tears around the village looking for Robert who is on his way to the police to confess. Having lied directly to the authorities, how will the police react to Robert’s confession? Even if he escapes being charged by the police, Robert is certain to pay for his behaviour when Ronnie gets his hands on him.

Laurel can’t help but feel a pang of jealousy when she hears that Louise is going out for lunch with Ashley. But the vicar has babysitting troubles and the pair are forced to stay in.

As Louise leaves, confused Ashley is downhearted after an intimate afternoon together. Needing a shoulder to cry on Ashley shares his growing feelings for Louise with Chas.

Tuesday 28 October 2003 at 7.00pm on ITV1 Network Pollard (CHRIS CHITTELL) is shocked when 'Hilary' turns out to be a man!

As Gloria prepares to leave for London to attend to ‘work commitments,’ Pollard has other plans. He leaves a message for Gloria’s researcher Hillary, inviting her to join them in the Dales for a couple of days. But there is a shock in store for Pollard as Hillary arrives in the village. It turns out the colleague that his wife has been so eager to get back to is a handsome young man. Red faced Gloria is very uncomfortable as she is forced to explain.

Robert is confronted by Ronnie
Robert carefully contemplates his next move, following the shocking revelation to Elaine that he crashed the car. He first seeks advice from a solicitor on the likelihood of receiving a custodial sentence. He’s relieved to learn that, without a witness, the police would find it hard to press charges against him.

With the truth now in the public domain Robert is forced to admit the shameful news to Jack. His dad is relieved when Robert partly redeems himself by going to the police to face the consequences of his actions.
Jack warns off Ronnie from attacking Robert
Meanwhile Ronnie and Frances sense that their daughter is unhappy about something. A tearful Elaine finally emerges from her locked bedroom, revealing that while sleeping with Robert she discovered the bruises on his chest from the driver's seatbelt. The news immediately sends protective Ronnie on the warpath.

Having received a mere slap on the wrist from the police Robert's smile is soon wiped off his face by a right hook from fired up Ronnie. Jack is infuriated by the violence directed at his son so retaliates by flooring Ronnie with one punch!
Elaine decides to forgive and forget and gives Robert a big hug
However Robert is determined not to lose this particular battle so later visits the Marsden’s offering a heartfelt apology for all the upset he’s caused.

Taken in by his BAFTA award winning performance Elaine decides to forgive her smug boyfriend.
Eric is shocked to discover Gloria's secretary is a man and Gloria doesn't know where to look
Full of the joys of Spring Pollard loves having his wife back in the village so forges a plan to prolong her stay by phoning Gloria’s office in London to invite her researcher Hillary up North. When Hillary turns out to be a man Pollard wonders why Gloria didn’t mention it before. The reason soon becomes apparent – Gloria has had a one-night-stand with Hillary, but will she be able to keep it under wraps?
Louise and Ashley
During a lunch date at the vicarage Louise and Ashley discuss past relationships candidly over a bottle of wine. Having enjoyed each other’s company the landlady and vicar arrange to go out for dinner the following evening.

Dawn remains positive about Terry’s recovery although Bob is not so convinced that his daughter can cope with the burden in the long-term.

Daz appears on Andy and Katie’s doorstep uninvited after his mum drops him off while she partys with friends. The tearaway causes more problems for the teenagers as he runs amuck in the farm.

Review

Ashley nervously anticipates his big date with Louise but with a little help from Chas -who has kindly volunteered her services as a baby sitter - they choose the perfect outfit. On their date, Louise interprets Ashley’s nerves the wrong way and is confused as he suggests they call it a night and end the date early. She later confides in Laurel, telling her she thinks she’s blown it. Meanwhile, Ashley’s feelings are stronger than ever, but he is convinced Louise will never feel the same….little does he know!

Frances and Ronnie can’t believe their ears when Elaine tells them she has taken Robert back. After nearly killing their daughter, they’re convinced he can only lead her astray again. Unfortunately their stern words only push their daughter further away, as Elaine packs her bags and seeks refuge with Paul and Siobhan until the dust settles at home.

Pollard quizzes Gloria about why she made out that Hillary was a woman. Under pressure Gloria panics and lies saying that Hillary is gay. Amused, Pollard invites Hillary round for dinner and the three share an awkward evening together.

After dinner, Pollard revels in delight as he makes jokes about Hillary’s sexuality, but when he leaves the room Gloria’s secret fancy-man moves in for the kill. Will Pollard catch them out or be oblivious to their obvious affair?

Louise
Both Ashley and Louise are nervous about their impending dinner date. However once they finally decide on what to wear for the occasion, both parties feel ready to enjoy the evening ahead. The date goes swimmingly until Louise makes a throwaway comment about Ashley being a really good friend to her. The sensitive vicar takes this to mean that Louise is not interested in a relationship so he cuts the date short, giving Gabby as an excuse to get home early.
Hilary, Gloria and Pollard have a meal together
With Gloria’s infidelity playing on her guilty mind she’s desperate to keep Eric off the trail for the next few days while Hillary is staying in Emmerdale. So Gloria tells her husband that her researcher is actually gay, but the plan backfires when Eric, now feeling unthreatened, invites Hillary to join them for dinner. In the evening, oblivious to the tense atmosphere, Pollard proceeds to get inebriated and entertains himself by making suggestive comments about Hillary’s sexuality. As soon as Pollard’s back is turned Hillary makes a pass at his boss, but Gloria makes it clear she’s not interested.
Elaine continues to defend Robert against her family's views.
Elaine’s continued relationship with Robert is driving a huge wedge between the Marsden family. Having decided to forgive her boyfriend over the car crash issue Elaine further upsets the apple cart by moving out of the family home to get away from her disapproving parents. After another argument with her dad, Elaine packs her bags and heads off to the refuge of Paul and Siobhan's.

Elsewhere Andy and Katie are still lumbering with looking after troublemaker Daz. Having not heard from the boy's mum the couple wonder if they will ever be left in peace.

Louise is forced to hear a few home truths as she grows jealous of Ashley's growing friendship with Chas. Gloria's affair is nearly discovered. The pressure is mounting for Siobhan to tell Paul the truth about her baby.

Having babysat for Ashley, Chas has spent the night at the vicarage. On her morning cleaning rounds, Laurel jumps to the wrong conclusion when she arrives to do the cleaning and finds the brash barmaid in Ashley’s dressing gown!

Thursday 30 October 2003 at 7.00pm on ITV1 Network Louise (EMILY SYMONS) watches unhappily as Chastity (LUCY PARGETER) gives Ashley (JOHN MIDDLETON) a big kiss.

Grateful for looking after Gabby, Ashley asks Chas if she would like to move in with him as a lodger, knowing she is looking for somewhere to live more permanently. Chas takes him by surprise by planting a huge smacker on his lips, explaining she needed to check there is no chemistry between them before she commits fully. Ashley is bewildered as she happily takes him up on his offer, explaining she felt nothing from their kiss. Little do they know Louise has witnessed their passionate clinch. Will the course of love ever run smoothly for the unlikely couple?

Gloria is struggling to keep her affair secret from Pollard insisting to Hillary she has made a mistake and he must stay at the B&B. But she weakens when Hillary turns on the charm and their embrace is narrowly missed by Steph, who makes it clear she knows there is something fishy going on.

Gloria is struggling to keep her affair secret from Pollard insisting to Hillary she has made a mistake and he must stay at the B&B. But she weakens when Hillary turns on the charm and their embrace is narrowly missed by Steph, who makes it clear to Gloria that she knows there is something fishy going on.

Excited about the prospect of becoming a father Paul tells his mate Syd about Siobhan being pregnant. Louise overhears and warns Siobhan that she should sort the situation out now before it gets any worse.
Jarvis catches Debbie and Daz
Elsewhere in the village, mischievous Daz has bumped into Debbie. Hitting it off immediately the duo spell double trouble as they cause havoc. Debbie challenges her new friend to break into Jarvis’s shed but the boy is caught red-handed by the owner, much to Andy’s embarrassment. Daz promises Andy that his mum will be picking him up the following day.

Ronnie warns Robert that as soon as he puts a foot wrong with Elaine he’ll come down on him like a tonne of bricks, but cocky Robert embraces the challenge.

Review

Hillary takes great amusement in Pollard’s constant references to him being gay, knowing full well he has bedded his wife behind his back! Meanwhile, money minded Steph is plotting against the couple. Over a drink she coaxes the truth out of Hillary and then calls Gloria with blackmail in mind.
