A tough week a head for Dawn

Review
Trouble is brewing at the Dingles' as Lisa stands her ground and sends Zak packing. Dawn gives birth after a traumatic labour but is left fighting for her own life. Len is the unlikely target of a battle for his affections.

Life hasn’t exactly been domestic bliss in the Dingle household since Zak has been away, but he seems to quickly settle into his old routine, much to the annoyance of his long suffering wife Lisa. Having been the head of the house for such a long time, Lisa is a businesswoman now and Zak can’t understand why his breakfast isn’t on the table.

Later all hell breaks loose as Lisa realises Zak has taken Belle to the wrong school. To make matters worse, sneaky Shadrach spills the beans and tells Zak about Lisa’s infidelity. As an argument breaks out, hurt Zak reveals she wasn’t the only one who played away from home. Furious Lisa then proceeds to kick him out.

Meanwhile, Terry tries and fails to comfort his teen wife who is in immense pain during labour. Encouraged by the midwife, Dawn give one final push and her baby boy is born.

EMMERDALE Sunday 19 October 2003 at 7.00pm on ITV1 Network Dawn (JULIA MALLAM), Terry (BILLY HARTMAN) and baby Woods.

Terry weeps with happiness and there is a huge sense of relief as Dawn holds her baby for the first time. The doctor informs them that they will perform hearing tests the next day to find out whether the rubella has affected the baby’s health.

But the happy couple are not out of the woods yet, as Dawn suddenly begins to haemorrhage and loses consciousness.

Distressed Terry is rushed out of way as the doctors fight to save her life. Will she pull through? Terry watches on helplessly as Dawn’s life hangs in the balance.

Now the sole benefactor of Home Farm, Zoe has a lot on her plate. The amount of paperwork is mind boggling and she doesn’t know where to begin. Luckily Jack is on hand to lend support and offers her assistance.

Zoe tells Paddy she won’t be able to return to work yet as there is too much to arrange and they agree to bring in a locum to help with the vet’s surgery. Zoe sighs as she admits the prospect of filling Chris’s shoes is a daunting one but she is determined to succeed

Terry tries and fails to comfort his teen wife who is in immense pain during labour. Encouraged by the midwife, Dawn give one final push and finally her baby boy is born.

Distressed Terry is rushed out of way as the doctor’s fight to save her life. Meanwhile Bob has arrived at hospital and is distraught to learn that he may lose his daughter. The two men anxiously wait for news and are overjoyed when the doctor announces that Dawn will make a full recovery.
Zak and Lisa continue to row

Review
As the gulf between Zak and Lisa grows wider, Zak searches for a new home while Lisa searches for answers. Terry and Dawn wait anxiously to find out if their baby has been born deaf. Len is forced to act as referee between Edna, Betty and Pearl.

Having been thrown out by Lisa, homeless Zak has spent the night in the barn and wakes up covered in hay. Cain and Debbie are amused as they bring him some rations. Meanwhile, Sam tries to convince Lisa to make it up with Zak, but she’s still in shock over his infidelity. She later decides to offer him an olive branch, but her forgiving nature backfires as the couple begin to argue again and the attempt at a reunion gets them nowhere.

After an altercation with Eddie, Zak decides to drown his sorrows in the Woolpack, where it appears his luck is about to change. Taking pity on his old mate, Rodney decides to offer him somewhere to stay.

After a complicated birth, exhausted Dawn and ecstatic Terry patiently await the results of their baby’s hearing test. They are hugely relieved when the doctor assures them their baby is healthy.

EMMERDALE MONDAY 20 October 2003 at 7.00pm on ITV1 Network Terry (BILLY HARTMAN) and Dawn (JULIA MALLAM) are delighted with the results of Baby Woods hearing test.

Meanwhile, Terry is determined to call the tot Terry Junior (TJ), despite Dawn’s intentions to call him Harrison. Playfully they bicker about the baby’s name.

Betty and Edna continue to argue about Pearl’s flirtatious behaviour, but it is clear she is slowly having more and more of an impact on Len.

Scott worries about his livelihood as the garage rent is due and with Chris long gone, he faces negotiating with Zoe under difficult circumstances.

After a complicated birth, exhausted Dawn and ecstatic Terry patiently await the results of their baby’s hearing test. They are hugely relieved when the doctor assures them their baby has perfect hearing. Meanwhile, Terry is determined to call the tot Terry Junior (TJ), despite Dawn’s intentions to call him Harrison. Playfully they bicker about the baby’s name but it seems that Terry has got his heart set on TJ.

Zoe takes control at HOme Farm
Scott worries about his livelihood as the garage rent is due and with Chris long gone, he faces negotiating with Zoe under difficult circumstances. He is pleasantly surprised by the fact Zoe agrees to lower the rent on the garage.

Betty and Edna continue to be annoyed about Pearl’s flirtatious behaviour, but it is clear she is slowly having more and more of an impact on Len.

At Butlers Farm Katie and Andy are relieved when Daz’s mum phones to confirm that he’s being picked up the next day. After letting one of the horses out of the stables Daz is well and truly in the doghouse as far as his brother is concerned.

Review
Terry's delight at becoming a father turns to horror when he collapses while wetting the baby's head. Zak sets Rodney on the trail of a foreign windfall, but his fortunes at home go from bad to worse. Len plucks up the courage to ask Pearl out.

Beaming with pride, Terry parades around the village with the newest addition to the Woods family. Everyone is keen to sneak a peak and offer their congratulations apart from Siobhan, who is finding the truth about her termination increasingly difficult to cover up.

The celebrations begin at the Woolpack as Terry wets the baby’s head with friends, while Dawn stays at home to spend time with her new born.

But tragedy strikes as in the midst of the celebrations Terry collapses and it soon becomes apparent that something is gravely wrong. Louise bends over Terry begging him to respond before shouting for someone to call an ambulance.

Meanwhile, after a couple of drinks for Dutch courage, Len summons the courage to ask Pearl out on a date. He tries to hide his surprise when she politely turns him down, while all the gossips watch on in amazement.

EMMERDALE Tuesday 21 October 2003 at 7.00pm on ITV1 Network Andy and Katy have mixed feelings as Daz returns home. Pictured: (L-R) Andy (KELVIN FLETCHER), Daz (LUKE TITTENSOR) and Katie (SAMMY WINWARD).

Daz has been driving Katie mad at the farm and Andy finally manages to lure him out of the house by promising him a driving lesson. With the boys out, Katie finds time to get on with her college work, until Daz’s mother Denise shows up. Katie is shocked but their conversation is interrupted by a huge bang outside, as Daz crashes Andy’s car into Denise’s. Furious she screams at him to get into her car, leaving Andy and Katie feeling sorry for Daz as he is driven away.

Terry collapses and it soon becomes apparent that something is gravely wrong.

Daz has been driving Katie mad at the farm and Andy finally manages to lure him out of the house
At Butlers farm Daz has been driving Katie mad at the farm and Andy finally manages to lure him out of the house by promising him a driving lesson, giving Katie some peace and quiet. Just as Katie starts to get on with her college work Daz’s mother Denise shows up. Katie is shocked by the comments his mother makes about how Daz spoils everything & is a waste of space. But the conversation is interrupted when Daz drives into Denise’s parked car outside. Furious she screams at him to get in, leaving Andy and Katie feeling sorry for Daz as he is driven away from the farm.
Rodney and Zak are getting on like a house on fire.
Rodney and Zak are getting on like a house on fire. Realising that there’s a buck to be made by importing South American artefacts Rodney makes a deal with Zak to share his overseas contacts.

Len plucks up the courage to ask Pearl out on a date however he’s surprised when she politely turns him down, while all the gossips watch on in amazement.

With all the baby celebrations going on in the village Siobhan is finding the truth about her termination increasingly difficult to deal with.

Dawn is frantic as Terry is rushed to hospital with his life hanging in the balance. Len seeks a pearl of wisdom to get his life back on track. Lisa is torn between Zak and Eddie.

No-one can believe their eyes as Terry lies motionless on the Woolpack floor. With the ambulance on its way, Bob shouts for Dawn and she arrives at scene cradling baby TJ. At the hospital, Dawn is forced to make a life threatening decision on Terry’s behalf – whether or not to give him a new drug that could help cure the blood clot that has caused the stroke.

The doctor explains the drug is still under medical trial, but that despite the risks, it could improve Terry’s state dramatically. After much heart-felt decision, Dawn decides to give the go ahead. As she sobs by his bedside, Dawn tells him everything is going to be all right and tries to convince herself that she has made the right decision. The nurses tell Dawn that if Terry makes it through the night the drugs will be working and the risks of complications will be reduced.

Len is taken aback when Pearl is coy about finally accepting a date with him. But as they unearth a few home truths, Pearl admits her flirtatious nature is just a façade and she really is quite shy around men.

Robert is treading on eggshells as Elaine expresses her frustrations at not remembering the accident. Knowing it is only a matter of time before her memory comes flooding back, he quickly steers her off the subject.

Terry lies incapacitated in hospital while Dawn prays for a full recovery, vowing to help him every step of the way. Lisa warms towards Zak but soon ends up regretting it. Elaine gets behind the wheel for the first time since the crash, but will Robert regret accompanying her?

Terry makes it through the night and as he wakes he clutches Dawn’s hand to let her know he can hear her. Dawn remains positive, determined not to leave his side even though she hasn’t had a wink of sleep all night.

But later on that day Dawn begins to see the severity of Terry’s illness. The nurse tries to comfort her as she realises how many things Terry will be unable to do and she later breaks down by his bedside, clinging tightly to TJ. Helpless Bob looks on not knowing how to comfort his daughter in such a traumatic time.

To make matters worse, Bob tells Viv he thinks it would be better if Terry died rather than for Dawn to be left with two dependants. Unfortunately Dawn hears him and is devastated by her father’s words. She can’t believe Bob would say such a thing in her time of need and refuses to speak to him.

Elsewhere in the village, Zak gets into a spot of bother with the police when an argument with Lisa about custody of the family dog draws unwanted attention. The police stop to see what all the commotion is about and end up arresting Zak for jumping bail on a previous charge.

After encouragement from her family to get back in the driving seat, Elaine and Robert go out in the car together. She looks at Robert smiling beside her and has a sudden sense of déjà vu. Elaine is shaken, but when Robert asks her what is wrong and she brushes him off. Robert begins to panic.

After a sleepless night by Terry’s bedside Dawn is totally exhausted. Encouraged by the fact that her husband has made it through the night Dawn remains positive that Terry will pull through.

Len and Pearl go on their first date together – to the Woolpack! Inevitably Edna and Betty interrupt the private party and plonk themselves down next to the courting couple.

Review
Dawn struggles to comprehend the seriousness of Terry's condition and realises her life has changed forever. Robert grows increasingly edgy as Elaine tries to undertstand her confusing flashback. Zak throws in the towel, realising he may have lost Lisa for good.

Episode #3567 - on ITV1

The news that Terry’s recovery could take years hits Dawn hard, but the doctors tell her she has to be strong for him and that he is lucky to be alive. Meanwhile, Bob is feeling guilty about upsetting Dawn the day before, but can’t help feeling Terry is now going to be a huge burden on her life and she is too young to deal with the pressure. Later, alone at home, Dawn can no longer take the strain and with no-one to turn to but her newborn son she breaks down.

Meanwhile, Robert knows it’s only a matter of time before Elaine remembers he was driving the car when they crashed, but he still hasn’t owned up. Meanwhile, Elaine has been thinking about the accident more and more and is determined to get things straight in her head.

Having been locked up in a cell for the night, Zak is pleased to get back to Rodney’s and have some freedom. Zak later takes his dog Woolie for a walk and is annoyed

when Lisa crosses their path. Excited to see a familiar face Woolie bounds towards Lisa, awayfrom Zak’s grip and into the path of a passing car. As the car screeches to a halt Woolie is knocked down and Lisa and Zak are horrified.

Instinctively Zak comforts Lisa as they realise the dog has not survived, but Lisa brushes him off. Zak is hurt by her rejection and is left feeling that he has nothing to stay in the village for.

Long Road to Recovery Friday 24.09.03
Terry lays helpless in hospital
The news that Terry’s recovery could take years hits Dawn hard, but the doctors tell her she has to be strong for him and that he is lucky to still be alive. Meanwhile, Bob is feeling guilty about upsetting Dawn the day before, but can’t help feeling Terry is now going to be a huge burden on her life and she is too young to deal with the pressure. Viv insists that Bob rectifies the situation with Dawn and offer his support in these hard times. Later, after the nurse sends Dawn home for some rest, the new mum switches on Bob’s baby video diary and breaks down in tears when Terry appears on screen.
Shadrach offers Lisa a shoulder to cry on
Zak is released on bail for the air rage incident but things just get worse for him when the Dingle family dog gets run over following an argument with Lisa. Furious that Zak had insisted on taking Woolly to Rodney’s house, Lisa blames the death on her estranged husband. Poor Eddie also finds himself in the doghouse as he was the unfortunate driver of the offending vehicle.
Andy and Robert
Robert knows that Elaine’s memory is about to come flooding back so confides in Andy. His brother offers the not so reassuring words of ‘I told you so’ and advises him to come clean.

Debbie is in trouble at school after being rude to her teacher. Cain tries to chastise the teenager but ends up on the receiving end of his daughter’s sharp tongue.

Chastity suggests holding a slave auction at the Woolpack to raise cash for the historical society. The event involves the male contingency of the village being sold to the highest bidder – which should prove interesting!
