Matthew plays it cool with Louise

ITV1 Network 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Louise (Emily Symons) and Terry (Billy Hartman) decide to go through with the mortgage on the B&B but Louise is surprised when Matthew (Matt Healy) sends Carl (Tom Lister) in his place with the documentation.

Later that day Louise goes to visit Matthew and hands over the signed forms. She apologises for the previous day but Matthew insists that she got the wrong idea, not him. She offers to buy him a drink, but Matthew refuses and shuts the door on a disappointed Louise.

Meanwhile, Colleen (Melanie Ash) joins Chloe (Amy Nuttall) and Carl for dinner and Chloe lays on the charm offensive. The subject of the poison pen letters comes up and Chloe insists that she never believed that Colleen sent them. Carl is left thoughtful, hoping to get to the bottom of the letters.

Elsewhere, Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) admits to Ashley (John Middleton) that she’s finding the distance between them difficult and he confesses that he is finding it equally as hard.

Bob accompanies Diane to the hospital

Bob tries to cheer Diane up but succeeds in depressing them both but Diane takes it all in her stride.

Diane and Jack are getting ready to go to the hospital for her chemo appointment. But Andy is struggling at the farm and Diane tells Jack to stay and orders Bob to take her instead. Was that a wise decision Diane?

Meanwhile, Terry and Louise tell Matthew that they’re going to go ahead with the mortgage. From the easy-going chap in past discussions, Matthew has now turned very professional after his ‘misunderstanding’ with Louise in the pub the previous day. He even gives Carl the papers later that day to give to the couple rather than deliver them himself.

While Terry seems to be loaded with money, Dawn is struggling. But she’s delighted to hear that she’s got a job at the estate agents.

Diane and Bob arrive at the hospital and the patient is a bag of nerves. But it’s actually Bob that looks the worse of the two as he recalls to Diane his memories of his father, who died from cancer when he was a young boy. His story reduces Diane to tears, but he encourages her by telling her that she’s still alive and has a wonderful family in which to enjoy life.

Laurel is also close to tears as she tells Nicola about how hard she’s finding it not being able to sleep with Ashley. Never one to hold back, Nicola tells her she should just get on and do it as no-one is going to see the pair at it! Good point.

Later that day Laurel is cleaning in the church as Ashley walks in. She tells him how difficult she’s finding their distance and somehows believes that Ashley’s job is keeping him fulfilled enough. But oh contraire, Ashley admits he too is finding it difficult to keep his hands off Laurel, the saucy blighter!

Colleen has arrived for dinner and Chloe is annoyingly sycophantic towards her boyfriend’s ex-wife, we didn’t realise she could be so nice! The two talk about Carl and the ‘baby’ and Colleen tells them she’s not surprised that Chloe’s pregnant, ‘he only had to look at me and I got pregnant’! Obviously that same look hasn’t worked for Chloe!

It’s only a matter of time before Colleen brings up the subject of the poison pen letters that Chas and Chloe accused her of writing. But Chloe is all sweetness and tells her she never believed Colleen was the one to write them and even apologies for her behaviour, much to Carl’s astonishment!

Having signed the mortgage papers, Louise delivers them to Matthew at work. She apologises again for their misunderstanding. He still insists that she got it wrong, but she tells him that she’s a woman and she ‘knows when someone’s coming on to me’. She reminds him again that she’s with Terry but hopes that they can continue their business relationship.

Elsewhere and Chas has done exactly what she said she would – got herself an interview with the army! Denzel’s face is a classic!
