Episode: 3996 - Friday 11th March 2005
Shelly demands that Turner choose between her and Steph

ITV1 Network 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Review :-

Shelly presents Turner with an ultimatum to chose between her and Steph.

Val is surprised by her feelings as she grows increasingly jealous of Pollard’s “new” woman.

Laurel confronts Ashley over their situation.

Shelly (Carolyn Pickles) admits to Turner (Richard Thorp) that she wants to go to Spain, but he tells her he can’t leave Steph (Lorraine Chase) alone. Shelly remains adamant that she’s going regardless, telling him that he must choose between her and his daughter.

Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) promises Libby (Ty Glaser) that he will look after her horse but panics when he notices a rusty nail embedded in its hoof. Andy calls for a vet but when Max (Charlie Kemp) turns up the rivalry between them is instantly apparent.

Pollard (Chris Chittell) is mad when Val (Charlie Hardwick) gets top billing in the newspaper and panics when Glynis (Christine Cox) questions his relationship with Val. Pollard is all too aware of what a loose cannon Val can be and worries about what she might say.

Turner apologises to Shelly the next morning and tells her he went too far with his behaviour the previous evening. He insists that he was over the moon when she contacted him and he knew she was alive. Shelly is quick to remind him of their plans to live in Spain and begs him to leave with her.
She explains to him that it’s torture living in Emmerdale with Steph nearby and the memories of the place. Turner begs her to stay and declares his love for her. But will it be enough?
It seems she can’t get away from Steph though for she later pops to the shop for some soup only for Steph to be there as well. She lets slip that she paid for the meal for her and Turner and that it wasn’t a raffle. Furious, Shelly rushes out and tells her, once again, to leave them both alone. Ever heard of 'deaf ears' Shelly?
Meanwhile, Pollard discovers Val’s advert in the paper and is furious with his ‘partner’ for publicising the event, particularly when Glynis walks in and starts questioning him about the exhibition and sale.
He takes her off the scent by dragging her to the pub for lunch. Val is there and is clearly put-out that Pollard is dining with another woman, but she still refuses to admit to anyone that she may have feelings for him that go beyond business. Instead she acts as their waitress to keep tabs on developments!
Elsewhere, Libby is called away to visit her sick grandmother. She needs someone to look after the horse, though, and lovesick Andy offers. But on taking the horse to the stable he realises that there’s a rusty nail stuck in its hoof.
He calls Paddy up, but the vet is unable to come and instead he sends Max. There is no love lost between these two, but they work together for the sake of the horse until Max suggests that the nail could have been picked up at the farm and tells Andy that news like that shouldn’t get around as it could give the farm a bad reputation. Needless to say, it would Andy up a treat!
Paddy and Emily are packing for their holiday and the vet goes to buy some sweets for the journey from the shop. The conversation between him and Viv isn’t exactly flowing, but she wishes him a happy holiday before she returns to the lonely hearts columns.
Meanwhile, Laurel has gone to see Ashley once again in the hope of being given some time with Gabby. But Ashley tells her he wants to keep his distance with her to ‘complete the test the bishop has set me’. He reminds Laurel that he doesn’t know how long the test could be and that the pair may never marry.
Back at Betty’s and Turner is faced with the dilemma that he can’t turn his back on his daughter when she is clearly ill, but he also doesn’t want to let go of Shelly. But she tells him: ‘If you can’t choose, I can, and I will.’ Will Shelly call time on Emmerdale?
