Laurel returns to the Village

ITV1 Network 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Review :-

Laurel returns from her adventures and Ashley seeks an answer to his proposal.

Chloe gets her feet under the table at the Kings.

Ethan suspects Steph’s losing her marbles.

Ashley (John Middleton) gets a surprise during his sermon when Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) returns from her travels a day early.

The vicar makes it clear how much he has missed his other half by wasting no time in asking for her hand in marriage. How will the newly cultured Laurel react to the proposal so quickly after her return?

Ethan (Liam O’Brien) visits Steph (Lorraine Chase) at the remand centre and advises her to confess the whereabouts of Shelly’s (Carolyn Pickles) body. Much to his horror, Steph explains that she wishes she could but she simply can’t remember what happened.

Chloe (Amy Nuttall) enjoys Sunday lunch at the King’s and takes the opportunity to get better acquainted with Tom (Ken Farrington). While Carl (Tom Lister) goes to the pub, Chloe insists on staying to help and subtly hints that she would like to marry his son.

Turner has decided to hold a memorial service for Shelly. Given that Steph won’t tell them where the body is, Turner feels he wants to pay his respects and thinks Shelly’s birthday on Wednesday would be an appropriate time to have it.
Meanwhile, the village is making its way to Church where Ashley holds a service on lurve! Little does he know that Laurel has just walked in, returning from her trip a day early! He’s allowed a quick cuddle with his love before Betty whisks her off to the pub for a catch up!
The Kings are having their normal Sunday lunch together and once again Chloe has invited herself along. Max reminds Carl that he was going to dump her a few days ago. Carl tells his brother that she’ll be having an abortion in a couple of days and he’ll see how it goes after that.
Back to the pub where Laurel is telling her captured audience all about Tanzania. Ashley looks on very proudly while she hears all the gossip from the village, including the fact that Turner is now living with Betty. But Ashley says she needn’t worry about where’s she’s sleeping tonight, she’ll be at his!
Meanwhile, Ethan goes to see Steph after she asked him to go in the previous evening. She hands him a letter that she wants him to give Turner, she says it tells him what she did and why she did it and begs for his forgiveness.
Chloe is being extra polite and helpful (she’s even flirting with Tom – uugh!). Matthew notices it and says, ‘If she crawls any further up dad’s backside she’ll disappear!’ Chloe overhears and is delighted when Carl jumps to her defence. But it is a bit sickening, Chloe.
Ashley is pondering whether Laurel still wants to be with him as she has done so much and clearly misses Africa. Diane does nothing to quell his fears by telling him that she’s changed and become much more confident. Does she still love him?
Back at the prison and Ethan tells Steph that it would help Turner if she would only tell Turner where Shelly’s body is. She says she still doesn’t know but insists Ethan gives her father the letter as she believes Turner will forgive her if he reads it.
Laurel’s tales and achievements have left Nicola thinking. ‘She’s achieved more in three months than I have in my whole life’. She vows that it’s time to make something of herself and uses the King empire as inspiration (yeah, but they’re a mess really, Nicola!)
Chloe offers to clear up and Tom joins her. They have a cosy chat and she tells him that she’s love to have lots of children with Carl after he tells her that he regrets not being able to see more of his grandchildren.
It obviously made an impression on him for later in the pub he tells Carl that he’s got a very nice girl who knows how to behave herself, he even tells Carl that she deserves better than him! Nice! Meanwhile, Jimmy declines another drink from his dad and goes off in yet another huff.
Ashley and Laurel finally find some time by themselves. He questions her plans and what she wants and tells her that he doesn’t want to hold her back if she wants to go back and dome more in Africa. She tells him she had a great time, ‘but I’m home now, where I belong’. Needing no more incentive Ashley pops the question, and good ol’ Laurel says, ‘Just try and stop me!’ Awww
