Episode:
3961 - Friday 28th January 2005
Jimmy learns the truth about his wife
ITV1 Network
7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Review :-
Turner starts to grieve for Shelly while Steph’s glad to
have cleared her conscience.
Charity keeps Jimmy firmly on her side.
A surprise late entry wins the open mic night.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DI Keysell (John Bramwell) interviews Steph (Lorraine
Chase) about Shelly’s (Carolyn Pickles) death but becomes frustrated when
she insists that she can’t remember exactly how she killed her.
Later that day, Steph calls her father to apologise for the hurt that
she has caused. Turner (Richard Thorp) hangs up in fury before breaking
down in tears as the magnitude of the situation finally hits home.

Jimmy (Nick Miles) meets the private investigator and is shocked to
learn that Sadie (Patsy Kensit) held back pictures of Charity (Emma
Atkins) fighting Cain (Jeff Hordley) off after the kiss. Jimmy can’t
believe his wife’s behaviour and after seeing his anguish, Charity
(Emma Atkins) seductively assures him that Sadie will get her comeuppance.
What does Charity have up her sleeve?
Over at the Woolpack the open mic competition gets underway and Viv
(Deena Payne) can’t resist mocking every joke that Bob (Tony
Audenshaw) makes. Viv’s comments only add to the comedy value
and the pair are voted joint winners, much to Viv’s horror!

After changing her plea, Steph’s solicitor
arrives to question her again. She’s hazy with the details,
as usual, but tells him that she knows she killed Shelly even if
she can’t remember the exact circumstances. She asks to speak
to the police. |
|
Turner is finding it difficult to believe that Steph has killed
Shelly and wonders who made the calls. Betty tells him there are
sick-minded people out there who could have done it. Turner tells
her that if he had his way, ‘Steph would hang for this’. |
|
Sadie’s private detective, Colin Matthews, turns up at
Home Farm half an hour early while Sadie’s still there! It’s
a close call, but Jimmy manages to hide him while he packs Sadie
off to the airport. |
|
Jimmy questions Mr Matthews about his job for Sadie. At first
he spins some bull about confidentiality before Jimmy wades some
cash in front him. He tells Jimmy that he took the photos of Charity
and Cain kissing, and also some of Charity fighting Cain off. Will
Jimmy finally believe Charity now? |
|
DI Keysell arrives at the prison and questions Steph. He asks
her again where the body is, but she can’t tell him. He then
asks her how she killed Shelly, and yep, you guessed it, she doesn’t
know. He leaves, still none the wiser, to conduct a search of the
area again. |
|
Jimmy finds Charity at the pub and tells her she was right, much
to her delight. He tells her that Sadie has lied to him, to Tom
and has played them all for fools. Charity tells him that they
can now get her back. ‘Too right,’ he replies, before
marching off to go and tell his dad… |
|
…But Charity runs after him and tells him not to tell Tom,
not yet anyway, as they haven’t got the photos to prove it.
She says it would be best if they wait until Sadie is back from
France and hit her with it when she returns.'Her time is coming,
trust me,' Charity tells him. Ooh, this is getting exciting now! |

Edna sends her petition off to the council using registered delivery.
Val attempts to pinch the envelope from the post office counter
by distracting Emily but gets caught in the act. Eric is touched
when Val tells him about it. Paul continues to be appalled by his
mother’s interest in Emmerdale’s dodgiest bachelor. |
|
Meanwhile, at the Woolpack, the open-mic comedy night has kicked
off with Paddy doing the intros. He's actually quite funny, shame
he didn't enter! |
|
Bob's up, but it isn’t long before Viv is giving her two
pennies’ worth and the two end up having a slanging match.
The audience think it’s part of a double-act and love it!
Bob is distraught when he wins, ‘If I can’t raise a
laugh on my own what is the point of my very existence?’ Oh
dear… |
|
Back with Turner and he jumps from his seat when the phone rings
thinking it could be Shelly. But it’s daughter Steph instead.
She tells him she wants to explain to him that she never meant
to kill Shelly. Turner tells him to leave her alone before slamming
the phone down and bursting into tears. He cuts a lonely figure,
the poor fella. |
