Zak allows Sam to follow his heart but will he be too late to catch
up with Alice?
Charity waits in the wings as Tom causes trouble for his sons.
Chloe worries Carl’s affection is cooling.
Zak (Steve Halliwell) notes Sam’s (James Hooton) agony over
Alice’s departure (Ursula Holden Gill) and after visiting Butch
and Ben’s graves he returns in a new frame of mind, telling his
son he must not miss his opportunity to be happy.
They drive to the train station and Sam makes a dash for a train. The station
master refuses to let Sam board without a ticket but after a threat from Zak
he gives in. Sam is finally reunited with Alice and bids an emotional farewell
to his family as the couple disappear to embark on a new life together.
Elsewhere, Jimmy (Nick Miles) feels undermined by Tom (Ken Farrington)
at work and he accuses Sadie (Patsy Kensit) of failing to support him.
Sadie warns her husband not to take Tom on, but Jimmy rebuffs her for
sounding more like his father everyday. Charity (Emma Atkins) witnesses
the whole exchange and swoops in on Jimmy with the intention of manipulating
the situation to her advantage.
Meanwhile, Tom tells Max (Charlie Kemp) that he can live in Jacobs
Fold but that he will need a job in order to pay the rent each month.
Despite his father’s words, Max rejects a job from Paddy (Dominic
Brunt) and furious Tom is forced to make it clear that he will accept
the work whether he likes it or not.

||With Alice about to leave Sam's life forever, she
leaves a letter for him – Lisa has to read it, though, as
the letters are joined up! She also leaves him a chicken, which
she says she has kissed and asked it to pass the kiss on to Sam – aw!
||Cain picks up Debbie to take her to school. But he takes her
on a diversion to show her his new home – a caravan! Great
||Lisa talks to Zak about Sam. ‘Have you seen the state of
him?’ she asks Zak. ‘He’ll get over it,’ is
Zak’s reply. Lisa tells him they can’t wrap him in
cotton wool forever and if they don’t let him go to Norfolk ‘he
may hate us for the rest of his life’. You're just too sensible,
||A pensive Zak, yes, you read that right reader, goes to visit
the graves of Butch and Ben (pouring them both a can of beer on
the soil!). After telling them how he feels about Sam, he returns
to the farm in a new frame of mind.
||Back at the farm, Sam tells Zak that he loved Alice, ‘because
she cared for me’. There’s a great moment when Zak
realises he needs to get Sam to the train and they run to get the
||We’re not going to let you know what happens there just
yet! Back to reality first and Tom talks to Max about getting a
job. He sets him up with an interview for a junior role at a veterinary
practice. Something in Max’s body language indicates that
he’s not too happy about that one!
|| Meanwhile, with lower lip protruding, Jimmy has a go at Sadie
for failing to support him. He feels undermined by Tom and doesn’t
think his work is being appreciated – well you do seem pretty
bad at your job, Jimmy.
||Back to the Dingles, (that’s what you really want to know
about isn’t it?) and they’re racing to the station
in the big red van…
||Jimmy and Sadie head to the pub for a drink, but it’s not
long before the two have words and Sadie storms back to work… witnessed
by Charity who sees her chance to get close to Jimmy. Although
he soon gets away from her, it’s clear she’s starting
to have an effect on him.
||The Dingles have finally made it to the station and Alice’s
train is waiting on the platform. He quickly finds her and she
thinks he’s just there to wave goodbye to her. He then tells
her that he’s going with her! Aw, it's just too sweet!
||Max has returned from his interview and tells his father it went
really badly as he was so nervous. But Tom has already called the
place and learned that they offered Max the job on the spot. Tom
tells Max that he will take the job whether he likes it or not.
||Just to throw a spanner into the love works, the station master
refuses to let Sam board the train without a ticket. But a threat
from Zak soon sees him jumping aboard. An emotional farewell follows
as the couple choo choo away to start their new life together.
