Episode:
3949 - Friday 14th January 2005
Turner makes an appeal on This Morning
ITV1 Network
7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Review :-
Turner makes an appearance on national television, hoping if Shelly’s
out there that she’ll get in touch.
Chas’ surprised when hunky Denzel starts giving her the
eye.
Viv guesses Bob’s having a mid-life crisis.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turner (Richard Thorp) appears on This Morning and makes an emotional
plea to Shelly (Carolyn Pickles) to get in touch if she is watching.
Back at the village, the B&B telephone doesn’t stop ringing
with journalists wanting to speak to Turner. When he returns he insists
he isn’t up to speaking to anyone and leaves Ethan (Liam O’Brien)
to comment on his behalf.
Over in the Woolpack, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is excited when the policeman
from the previous day pays another visit. Now on first name terms,
Chas and Denzel (Danny Lawrence) openly flirt with one another and,
as he leaves, Chas happily smiles to herself. Could romance be on the
cards?
Meanwhile, Alice (Ursula Holden Gill) and Sam (James Hooton) grow
closer as they share intimate details about their lives. Sam confides
in her about running Edna (Shirley Stelfox) over, but how will Alice
react to discovering that he knocked down an elderly lady?

Turner is having doubts about appearing on ‘This
Morning’. Horrified Betty says, ‘You can’t pull
out now, what’ll Phil and Fern say?’ You tell him Betty!
He reluctantly gets into the taxi with Ethan as they head off to
the studios. |

It seems Pearl’s plan has paid off as Len receives a call
from the estate agent telling him that yesterday’s couple
didn’t like the house. Len blames it on the car parked in
the drive to which Pearl enacts stage two of her plan by suggesting
a solution… Len could help Jarvis fix the car, then it would
be gone. Ooo, sly Pearl, very sly! |
|
|
Meanwhile, Bob is preparing for his open mic night and is trying
his jokes out on first Terry, then Paul. Unfortunately they aren’t
rolling around the floor laughing (did we expect any different?)
and instead we’ll have to cringe in our seats when it comes
to the much-awaited evening. |

|
Gossip queen Viv is trying to get the latest in the Turner-Steph-Shelly
situation and asks Ashley for an update. He refuses, but then Betty
walks into the shop and is about to divulge everything in true
Betty style, until Ashley interrupts. Instead, she tells Viv to ‘make
sure you’ve got access to a telly This Morning'. Very good
Betty, after a bit of help with the riddle, Viv eventually understands. |
|
|
Len finally gives in to the urge of fixing the car and asks Jarvis
for a screwdriver. One little twist later and the engine is purring
away – he’s so clever! But it hasn’t done enough
to convince Len that he wants to go back to work and he asks Jarvis
to move the car. Looks like Pearl's plan has failed. |

At the Woolpack, Chas is fed up that she’ll be working
all Friday afternoon and evening and complains to Paul about her
lack of social life. Instead they watch Turner on ‘This Morning’,
along with the rest of the village. |
|
|
Phil and Fern are fab in their debut Emmerdale appearance as
they quiz Turner about his situation. Turner talks about his feelings
of emptiness and makes a plea at the end of the show: ‘Shelly,
if you are out there, please contact me, I just can’t live
without knowing… please, please!’ But is she watching…? |

After a few days of being on a high, Bob’s world comes
tumbling down again when Viv hands him a letter from her solicitor
to start divorce proceedings. He’s not down for long though
and to cheer himself up he buys a motorbike. Mid-life crisis perchance,
Bob? |
|
|
Turner returns after his television appearance and the interview
requests are already pouring in. At first Turner can’t see
the point, but Ethan offers to do them instead. |
|
|
In the Woolpack, Alice and Sam freak Chas out by saying exactly
the same thing as each other when they order a drink. Paul overhears
and sees it as a match made in heaven. He adds that Viv and Bob
are also meant to be together… do we detect a bit of match-making
coming up? |
|
|
It’s vomit time again as Chas and Denzel flirt in the pub – funnily
enough, there isn’t any moaning from Chas about her lack
of social life now… just get on with it you two! |
|
|
We still don’t know if Shelly saw Turner on ‘This
Morning’, but one person who did was the police detective… he
looks a bit peeved to say the least, could Turner have jeopardised
the case? What a cliffhanger!
