Desperate for cash, Jimmy steals Sadie’s jewellery
ITV1 Network
7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ashley (John Middeton) is nervous as he breaks the news of his decision
to Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) and informs her that in order to convince
the Bishop of their love for one another they will have to end the
physical side of their relationship.
Laurel assures the vicar that she is willing to wait forever if she
has to, but later on she breaks down in tears as she removes her engagement
ring.

Meanwhile, Charity (Emma Atkins) is desperate to make Debbie believe
that she has been set up and tells Chas (Lucy Pargeter) that she is
considering showing her the videotape of her and Jimmy (Nick Miles).
Chas strongly advises her against this, but how far will Charity go
to prove her innocence?
Elsewhere, Jimmy (Nick Miles) worries that his days are numbered and
he panics knowing that he doesn’t have the money that Charity
is demanding. Out of desperation he slips Sadie’s jewellery into
his pocket. How long will it be before she notices that it has gone
missing?

It’s the day after Ashley has decided to retract
his resignation and he and Laurel head out for a walk. She’s
talking about previous weddings that she’s been too and the
preparations for their wedding, but it's clear Ashley wants to
talk about something else. He tells her he's had time to reflect... |
|
...before he can go any further, though, Laurel interrupts him
and tells him that she doesn’t want to be the girl that he
gave up everything for, ‘you’ll end up hating me and
blaming me’. |
|
He tells her that he can’t give up his life of God and
that he has decided to withdraw his resignation. He tells her he
knows waiting is a lot to ask of her and that breaking off the
engagement is the right thing to do. ‘If you want to walk
away, I’ll understand,’ he tells her. |
|
‘I can’t give you what you want, but I’ll never
regret asking you to marry me. I had to make a choice, but really
it wasn’t mine to make,’ he tells a distraught Laurel. |
|
But while Laurel tells him she used to daydream of the time she
and he would have children, she tells him that she loves him, and
that she will wait, however long it may be! Ashley is thrilled
and vows: ‘I will not rest until we’ve proved our love
to the Bishop. It’ll be my life’s work to make you
mine.’ |
|
Away from the heart-rending stuff, and Jimmy gives Charity more
of the cash he owes her, but tells her he’s having trouble
getting the rest of it. She threatens to send the tape to Tom and
Sadie if he doesn’t deliver it soon. |
|
Later, as he sees some of Sadie’s jewellery on the side,
he decides to take it. As if she’s not going to notice that!
|
|
Over at the pub, Charity is at a lost with Debbie and believes
the only way she can convince her that she’s telling the
truth is to show her the videotape. |
|
Chas is stunned and warns her against such action, ‘she
won’t be listening to you, she’ll be looking at the
pictures,’ Chas tells her. Will Charity go through with it? |
|
Meanwhile, Ashley is conducting a christening which Laurel decides
to watch. As she sits down and contemplates her day, she removes
her engagement ring from her finger and places it on her necklace
as she wonders when, or if, she will ever get married to Ashley. |
