ITV1 Network Sunday 20 February 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Paddy worries about his relationship with Emily Paddy (Dominic Brunt)
looks on with jealousy at Marlon (Mark Charnock) and Donna (Verity
Rushworth) canoodling. After one too many drinks, he shocks Marlon
by confessing that he and Emily (Kate McGregor) are experiencing problems
in the bedroom.
Elsewhere, Viv (Deena Payne) tries to reunite her family and with
the best of intentions she invites everyone over for lunch. When she
fails to round up the troops, Viv is left feeling utterly depressed
and she complains to an uncomfortable Emily about her own non-existent
sex life.
Meanwhile, Ashley (John Middleton) remains adamant that he stands
by his resignation from the church, but when a parishioner rings saying
that his dying mother is asking to see him, the ex-vicar goes to visit
her without a second thought. Is Ashley really ready to put the church
behind him?

Ethan and Ashley argue about the vicar’s decision
to resign from the church. Ashley explains that he had no alternative
and that he was not prepared to wait for the Bishop’s approval
as it may never come. Ashley then asks Ethan to take the Sunday
service for him. |
|
Viv tells Emily she has turned a corner in her life. She decides
to invite her family round for a Sunday roast, but little does
she know that they have already made plans. |
|
Ashley and Emily head out for a stroll while the Church bells
are ringing, he tries to ignore the affect they’re having
on him, but it is clearly difficult for the man to turn his back
on the Church. |
|
Later they sit in the Church and Laurel once again questions
his decision. ‘The Church is who you are,’ she tells
him. But he simply replies: ‘You are who I am now.’ Before
insisting that there are other jobs that he can do. |
|
Marlon and Donna are off to a concert in Leeds and invite Emily
and Paddy along. To Paddy’s surprise, Emily agrees to go.
At last there’s a smile on the miserable vet’s face. |
|
That is until they run into Viv who is upset because both Donna
and Scott are busy that afternoon. Emily tells her that she and
Paddy will have lunch with her. The grin on Paddy’s face
is soon erased! |
|
As expected, the lunch is a very painful experience with Viv
feeling increasingly sorry for herself. Paddy eats his ‘solid’ piece
of beef while getting through the wine rather quickly. Viv later
pulls out the family album! Paddy can stand no more and makes his
escape to the pub. |
|
Meanwhile, Ashley and Laurel are cooking a lunch of their own,
but it’s not running smoothly for the stressed vicar. That
is until a parishioner knocks on the door and tells him that his
dying mother is asking for him. Ashley leaves to see her without
a second thought. |
|
While Ashley’s gone, Laurel asks Ethan if he’s upset
by Ashley’s decision, he simply tells her: ‘I know
I couldn’t do it.’ A few hours later Ashley returns.
The lady died, but he feels glad that he was there for her in her
last moments. Are the seeds of doubt being sown, Ashley? |
|
Meanwhile, Shelly is fed up with her quiet life in the village
and asks Nicola if she has any cleaning jobs. Nicola is less that
helpful, though, and tells her that they are fully staffed at the
moment. What a cow! |
|
With Paddy at the pub, Viv and Emily talk about men. Viv tells
her that she doesn’t miss Bob himself, but she does miss
the company and being close to someone. Emily tells her that sex
is not important and that there’s more to life… but
Viv strongly disagrees! No surprise there then! |
|
Over at the pub and Paddy has had a few beers too many. But when
he and Marlon walk home he admits to his friend that he and Emily
are having problems in the bedroom. Marlon is confused and in his
drunk state Paddy shouts out: ‘We’re not having sex
anymore,’ just to clarify the matter. Marlon is clearly worried
about his friend. |
