Ethan puts the fear of God into Laurel and Ashley
ITV1 Network
7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) excitedly tells her friends about the wedding
but is later downhearted when Ethan (Liam O’Brien) reveals that
he suspects the Bishop (Peter Cartwright) will disapprove of Ashley
(John Middleton) marring for a second time. Ashley tries to convince
Laurel that everything will be fine, but will the Bishop put a stop
to the happy couple’s plans?

Meanwhile, Jimmy (Nick Miles) is raging with anger at being blackmailed
and he takes out his aggression by trashing Charity’s (Emma Atkins)
room at the B&B in search of the video tape. Jimmy thinks he has
won after smashing up all of her tapes and the camcorder, but a smug
Charity is quick to tell him that she has a backup copy and that she
has decided to up her price to £200,000.
Elsewhere, Pollard (Chris Chittell) values a widow’s antiques
and is delighted to discover that he is likely to make a huge profit.
The dodgy dealer is thrilled that things are finally looking up.

Laurel is full of the joys of wedding planning
as she buys magazines to prepare for the big day. Ashley reminds
her that he has to ask the Bishop for permission first. |
|
It’s the day after Charity's bombshell and the minx
is talking through the previous night’s events with Chas,
who can’t believe what her cousin has done. ‘I
hope you know what you’re doing as it sounds mad to me,’ she
tells her. Charity insists that she is, although for the first
time the blonde beauty has a nervous look on her face. Makes
a change. |
|
Meanwhile, Jimmy looks a wreck as Zoe returns and finds him
on the sofa. He is clearly troubled and makes a quick getaway
to work. |
|
But he soon gets hassled there by brother Matthew, who tells
him that Sadie won’t be pleased about ‘the other
lady you’re playing away with’. Jimmy tells him
and Tom that he has to go to Leeds later for business, Matthew
remains suspicious of his brother’s behaviour. |
|
Jimmy later calls Charity and arranges to meet her in a lay-by
that evening. Chas offers to go with her, but she says she’ll
be fine. |
|
But as Charity sits waiting for her victim, Chas spots Jimmy
going into the B&B. She quickly calls Charity and tells
her to get back, quick-smart. More of that later… |
|
Elsewhere, Pollard values a widow’s antiques and is
delighted to discover that he is likely to make a huge profit.
The dodgy dealer is thrilled that things are finally looking
up. Have you not got a heart, Eric? |
|
Things could also be looking up for Terry. Shelly and Turner
talk about selling the B&B so that they’re free to
move where they want. They decide to give Terry first refusal
on the purchase and with Louise telling him that he’ll
be in his element looking after it he agrees to think about
it. |
|
Back to the wedding planning and Laurel asks Ethan if he
could marry her and Ashley. The curate apologises but says
he cannot. He tells her that it’s nothing against the
couple personally but because Ashley is a vicar and he has
already been married he doesn’t approve of the wedding
and tells Laurel that he doesn’t think the Bishop will
approve either. |
|
Distraught, Laurel heads over to the pub to confront Ashley,
who tells her that it is possible the Bishop may not allow
them to wed. She asks him why he didn’t express his concerns
to her earlier… |
|
Back to the action and Charity walks in on Jimmy trashing
her room in the B&B, including the videotapes. She lets
him believe at first that he’s beaten her, before saying, ‘Do
you really think that they’re my only copies?’ The
smirk that was on Jimmy’s face soon disappears. |
|
She tells him that he shouldn’t underestimate her before
she raises her asking price to £200,000. If not, she
tells him that she’ll go to the police and ruin his family.
He eventually agrees but tells her that he can’t get
all the money at once. He tells her he’ll meet her tomorrow, ‘You’d
better,’ she replies, ‘otherwise you’ve lost
everything.’ |
