Episode:
3972 - Thursday 10th February 2005
Max unwittingly lands himself a job at the veterinary surgery
ITV1 Network
7:00 PM to 7:30 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Charity (Emma Atkins) goes to Home Farm to see Jimmy (Nick Miles) and she bides
her time as she waits for a pre-arranged phone call from Chas (Lucy Pargeter).
When Charity takes the call she apologises that she has to go and promises
Jimmy that she’ll make it up to him. Charity heads to a hotel and makes
a reservation for the following day. What is Charity concocting?

Elsewhere, Tom (Ken Farrington) asks Paddy (Dominic Brunt) if he has
any work for Max (Charlie Kemp) and is shocked to learn than his son
has already turned down a part-time job at the vets’. Tom is
determined that Max should earn himself a living in the village and
tells Paddy that he is prepared to fund the job to make it a full-time
position. How will Max respond to his father’s meddling?
Elsewhere, Steph (Lorraine Chase) bakes cakes and delivers them around
the village in an attempt to make amends. Unfortunately for her the
only person that shows an ounce of appreciation is Shadrach Dingle
(Andy Devine)!

Turner and Shelly awake to find that they have been
given a cake. On opening it they find a note saying, ‘Sorry’.
But they soon realise that the handwriting is Steph’s and
they promptly dump the gift in the bin! |
|
But they’re not the only ones to receive a cake. Steph
has decided to buy one for everyone in the village. Next on her
list is Pollard. She invites herself in to his place and starts
to make tea before telling him that she thinks she should shoulder
the blame for the trading standards case. Pollard, as you can imagine,
is astounded. |
|
It seems the only person who is glad to see Steph bearing gifts
is Shadrach Dingle! But neither he, Zak nor Lisa are certain that
the cakes hasn’t been poisoned and test it out on a chicken
first! |
|
Meanwhile, Charity arranges for Chas to give her a call while
she’s seeing Jimmy. She is under orders to tell Charity that
Noah’s sick and that she must go home. What you playing at
Charity? |
|
But Chas is run off her feet in the pub and is late calling her!
Charity has managed to fend Jimmy off and tells him that she will
make it up to him soon. We later hear her booking the penthouse
in a hotel! What are you up to? |
|
Elsewhere, Tom goes to see Paddy to see if any jobs have come
up in the last few days that Max could help him with. Paddy tells
Tom that he offered Max a part-time job, but that he declined.
Tom is shocked and tells Paddy that he’s going to have a
father-son chat with Max. |
|
He returns later with a proposition for Paddy. He asks Paddy
if he can give Max a full-time contract, with him paying Max part-time
and Tom making up the rest. Paddy eventually agrees and Tom tells
him that he must keep it a secret. Does this mean Max is staying
in Emmerdale? We won’t complain about that! |
|
Having decided to stay in Emmerdale, Pearl visits Tom to apologise
for the inconvenience her and Len have caused. But what started
as an apology turns into a rant after Tom tells her that she and
Len have wasted his time. Pearl has no problem in taking back her
apology and instead storms out! |
|
Steph has finally found someone that wants to speak to her – Pollard.
She’s still insisting that she takes the blame in court on
Friday so the least he can do is buy her a drink. |
|
Tom joins his sons in the pub where he breaks the news to Max
that he has a job with Paddy and that he’s starting tomorrow.
There’s not much poor Max can say except thanks as his brothers
make him pay for drinks now that he’ll be earning. |
|
On his way to the toilet, Jimmy passes by Charity, who tells
him to meet her in the hotel tomorrow afternoon. Chas is still
concerned about her cousin and says to her, ‘Please tell
me you know what you are doing?’ Charity simply grins back
at her. |
