After her fall yesterday, Chloe gives Tom a call to tell him she’ll be in the office in the afternoon. Well she does have two people to look after now… oh wait, no she doesn’t, there is no baby!
At work, Tom says to Carl that for someone who has decided on an abortion, Chloe looked pretty relieved when she heard the baby was ok in the hospital the previous day. Carl tells him that she’s decided to keep the baby after all. Tom sends him home to look after her.
After several rounds of arguments, Chloe tells Carl that she doesn’t expect him to stand by her and has decided to go and live with Siobhan, who will also be bringing up a child on her own.
Carl is disgusted and tells her that living with Siobhan is a non-starter. He reminds Chloe that bringing up a child is difficult and it’s not all about designer baby buggies. She tells him that she knows what she wants and while he may not like it, ‘you will have to respect it’.
Chloe sits down with Tom at work and he says, ‘Whatever happened to getting engaged, then wed and using contraception?’ But he admits that he’s happy to be having another grandchild and tells her to wait before deciding on an abortion as she may regret it forever.
Meanwhile, Chas is dropped home by Denzel, but is spotted by Marlon, Shadrach and Zak! In her desperation she tells them that she was arrested the previous evening! And even worse, Denzel tells the Dingles that if they give him a pig he will drop all charges against her! Fortunately, the Dingles are stupid enough to believe the pair!
In the pub, father and son have a chat and Tom asks Carl why he hasn’t had the snip and questions whether he does in fact want more children. He takes Carl’s silence as a yes and asks him if he loves Chloe. He replies, ‘I’m gonna have to aren’t I? I’ll make a proper go of it, I promise.’ Seems Chloe’s plan has worked!
Back at home, Chloe apologises to Carl, but he admits he’s been a prat. He tells her that they’re going to be alright – it’s like music to the ears for Chloe!
At the office, Tom gets the champagne out while Chloe tells Matthew and Jimmy that she and Carl are having a baby. Tom welcomes her to the family while Matthew and Jimmy rue the fact that another ambitious lady has joined the King family!
Back at home, Carl tells Chloe that her life will never be the same again and asks her again if she wants to keep the baby, she replies that she’s ‘dead sure’. While Carl goes up and changes Fen the dog goes up to Chloe for some attention, but she gently kicks it away and tells it, ‘You’ve done your bit.’ She really is a nasty piece of work, isn't she?
The Kings and Chloe go for a celebratory drink and she makes Carl tell Chas about the baby, but the shrewd barmaid has already worked it out and does the honourable thing and congratulates Chloe. She later asks Carl if he's actually happy about it, he claims he is.
Seeing a deflated Chas, Paul asks her if she’s ok. First she tells him she has a delightful boyfriend who worships the ground she walks on, but then she holds back the tears and we all know different. Poor Chas.
