Louise and Carl get friendly. News of the tiny arrival spreads like wildfire in the village as the locals speculate on the identity of the baby’s father. At Home Farm, Scott (Ben Freeman) also broaches the subject with Zoe (Leah Bracknell), but she coldly asserts that the baby will not be a Tate. Meanwhile, Zak (Steve Halliwell) has been to see Cain (Jeff Hordley) in prison. He later tries to convince Charity (Emma Atkins) not to give the baby up, but his threats fall on deaf ears. Charity, however, agrees to paternity testing in an attempt to get her family off her back once and for all. Zoe has been up all night working on the tender and is shattered. Little does she know that Carl (Tom Lister) is secretly plotting to undercut her, despite wishing her luck with the bid. Having photocopied Zoe’s tender, Carl meets Jimmy for a drink, triumphant that they will win the business. Carl also has other things on his mind when Jimmy (Nick Miles) catches him eyeing up Louise (Emily Symons). The attraction is definitely mutual, and they subtly agree to meet up later for some bedroom action.
