Nicola’s selfishness leads to a broken
heart and a broken engagement.
Although smug Nicola admits she’s jumped the gun a little, she insists she’ll have a rock on her finger before the week is out. She is blissfully unaware that Simon has been agonising over what to do, since he caught her red-handed with Syd (Nathan Gladwell).
Luckily for the feisty blonde he decides to take a gamble and asks for her hand in marriage.
Nicola instantly accepts, but in all the excitement, she lets it slip that she knew he was going to ask, leaving Simon suspicious at what else she is hiding.
Things quickly turn sour when Simon finally asks Nicola why she lied to him about the reunion. Shocked that he knows, Nicola struggles to explain and only adds fuel to the fire. As she flounders Simon loses all faith in their relationship and calls off the shortest engagement in history.
Meanwhile, Nicola is also in the doghouse with Laurel (Charlotte Bellamy) after spreading rumours about the cleaner’s sex life and causing embarrassment for her and the vicar, Ashley (John Middleton).
Elsewhere in the village, Pollard (Chris Chittell) is fed up with Steph’s (Lorraine Chase) clutter and decides she’s outstayed her welcome. When she returns home from work she is shocked to find out she’s homeless, as Pollard tells her to sling her hook.
