Review
Diane is shocked when a blast from the past crashes her engagement party and starts to stir things up. Robert turns on the romance for Katie while Andy revels in stag night plans. Has the passion cooled for Paul and Siobhan or are they on the road to a reconciliation?

Diane is up early in preparation for her engagement party but her excitement is dampened when she sees the last of the scaffolding being removed from the Woolpack and her thoughts turn to Tricia. Later as she undertakes some pampering before the celebrations begin, Diane’s thoughts are disturbed when there is loud banging at the back door of the pub. She opens the door and is shocked to see her younger sister Val wearing sunglasses to hide her badly bruised face.

Meanwhile, Paul is still being cold towards Siobhan despite her attempts to show him affection. It is clear that the problems in their marriage have not been rectified. Paul is preoccupied and throws himself into his work to keep busy. Later, an offer from Syd to join him at the Woolpack for the engagement party sparks another argument as Siobhan insists that they need to talk. The abortion has destroyed their marriage and it’s time to face facts. Will the turbulent couple ever be able to put the heartbreak of the termination behind them?

Having promised to meet Robert, Katie is bubbling with excitement when he tells her he has a surprise for her. Insisting that she keeps her eyes firmly shut, he tells her to trust him before guiding her into the candlelit Pear Tree Cottage. Clearly impressed by his romantic gesture, Katie is blown away when Robert tells her he would do anything to be with her. Alone, they make good use of their time together and put the rapidly approaching wedding to the back of their minds.

	Nicola has worn out the carpet by the answerphone, hoping to hear about her date with Simon. She's shocked to hear that, having asked him out, she's supposed to be organising it. She can't find anything glamorous to do at such short notice, so she tells Emily she'll cook him a meal. Undaunted by her lack of culinary skills, or that Simon owns a restaurant, she chooses an ambitious duck and apricot recipe. Chaos ensues, with burnt hands, burnt duck, and Rodney sent out to find a replacement.
	Paul's rediscovered enthusiasm for Siobhan has waned overnight, and he is back to his silent self. He wants to get out and have fun with Syd, while she wants to stay at home and talk through their problems about the abortion. Paul decides his escape is more important, and goes out anyway. As a result of Katie's pressure for a more romantic spot than the garage for their liasons, Robert persuades Scott to lend him the keys to Pear Tree Cottage. Andy nearly catches them because he is so excited to tell Katie. Later, however, he takes her to the romantic candle-lit haven, where they can spend time together safely.
	Diane gets up early, excited about her trip to buy an engagement ring that afternoon. However, she confides to Louise and Chas that with the Woolpack only just back in control, she may not be ready to move back in with Jack. She later tells Nicola that she's optimistic that she can make it work, even though Rodney isn't convinced she won't panic about the commitment. A celebration has been organised for the couple, and while she pampers herself beforehand there is a knock at the door that neither Chas nor Louise will answer. When she goes down to open the door in her curlers, she is shocked to see her sister Val standing outside. Diane is suspicious about Val's appearance until she sees the huge black eyes underneath her sunglasses.
