Katie (Sammy Winward) sits sobbing as she struggles to come to terms with her love for Robert (Karl Davies) and guilt towards Andy (Kelvin Fletcher). Robert overhears her crying and tells her he’ll go back to live with his dad to give her some space.
But Katie can’t bear to watch him go and they end up back in bed. Realising they want to be together, Robert devises a plan that Katie can leave Andy and then once everything dies down she can be with him. Katie agrees that it will be worth the wait and they cling onto each other thinking about their future.
Elsewhere, Ashley (John Middleton) tries to comfort Edna (Shirley Stefox) over the village rumours, but she is adamant it is just Pearl (Meg Johnson) spreading lies. Later Jarvis (Richard Moore) goes to see Edna and shows her the newspaper article. Forced to accept the truth, Edna throws the paper into the fire and breaks down in tears.
Meanwhile, Jack (Clive Hornby) is sick of the sibling rivalry between Val (Charlie Hardwick) and Diane (Elizabeth Estensen). He tells Diane she’s being over dramatic and should swallow her pride by letting Val move back in. Will Diane agree to take Val back for the sake of her relationship with Jack?
