ITV.COM Making Up Monday 30.08.04
Ashley is desperate to clear the air after rowing with Laurel about her trip to Africa. When he goes to see her he has to contend with Nicola who sends him packing. Once the coast is clear Ashley gets an opportunity to apologise to Laurel and he tells her he will be back to see her off. Ashley is later inspired when he walks into the Woolpack and learns that Diane and Louise have bought going away presents. Ashley dashes off and doesn’t return in time for Laurel’s big send off. Just as she sets off Ashley pulls up and asks Laurel if she will marry him.
Sadie gets Syd on his own at Pear Tree Cottage and tells him that if he moves out not only will the job of converting the cottage be his but he can also look forward to future work with the Kings. Sadie turns on the charm and flattery gets her everywhere. At lunchtime Sadie approaches Katie and mentions some jobs that might be coming up. Chas realises that Sadie’s trying to bribe Katie but she is furious when Charity hints that Sadie has come to some arrangement with Syd. Syd tells her that he’s just been realistic but Chas feels let down.
Paddy comes across Jimmy checking out the field next to his house and asks him what he’s up to. Jimmy tells a sceptical Paddy that he’s only planning to build a home for Sadie and himself. Later in the Woolpack Jimmy has a go at Sadie for ordering a double gin and tonic, telling that she should lay off the booze if they are serious about trying for a child. Sadie changes the subject and tries to quiz Jimmy about whether she can have the new car that she wants.
