--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s Tanzania or bust as Laurel gives
Ashley an ultimatum. Sadie
turns her charms on Syd as her redevelopment of the village continues.
Emily worries about Debbie and Ethan being more than friends.
Emily worries that Debbie is too fond of Ethan
Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) does her utmost to prevent Laurel (Charlotte
Bellamy) from leaving the village but after failing miserably she
sadly confesses that she will miss her best friend.
Meanwhile, Ashley (John Middleton) is equally distraught at the thought
of losing Laurel, but unintentionally offends her when he offers a
constant flow of advice on Africa. Feeling belittled, Laurel tells
him she doesn’t need his help anymore and is adamant that she’s
going whether he likes it or not.

Over at the church, Emily (Kate McGregor) worries when she overhears
Debbie (Charley Webb) telling Ethan (Liam O’Brien) that she would
like to help with the harvest festival. Not wanting them to be left
alone together, Emily insists that she help too and gently reminds
Debbie that she is only 14 and should try to find some friends her
own age.

Edna (Shirley Stelfox) warns Len (Peter Martin) that he will lose
Pearl (Meg Johnson) if he insists on making her choose between him
and her son. Len takes her comments on board and tells Pearl he doesn’t
want them to break up, reassuring her they will get through this together.

| Ashley
drives Laurel mad as he offers an endless stream
of advice on what she should and shouldn’t take
to Tanzania with her. When he buys her a rucksack
Laurel sees red. Laurel tells Ashley that she
will do things her way. Ashley says that he can’t
win, if he tries to help she sees it as interfering
if he doesn’t help it means he doesn’t want her
to go. Finally realising that Ashley really doesn’t
want her to go Laurel becomes upset because she
believes he doesn’t want her to go because he
thinks she’s not up to the task. |

| When
Debbie tracks Ethan down in the café and asks him whether
he needs any help organising the harvest festival
Emily decides it is time to do something about
Debbie’s crush on the curate. Emily follows them
to the church with a box of things for the harvest
festival. Debbie is not pleased to see her and
tells her that it only takes two people to do
the job they are doing. Ethan takes this as his
cue to leave. Emily tells Debbie that as Niamh
and Ethan have only just split up Ethan may need
some space. Debbie is in no mood for good advice. |

and Len are both keen to make things up and
Pearl
takes Len some food at the garage. Len suggests
a weekend away in Blackpool. Pearl is pleased
but tells Len that she has promised to visit
Frank at the weekend and perhaps they could visit
him on the way. Len reminds her that she doesn’t
want anything to do with her son. Later, Edna
finds Len in the pub and tells him that if he
makes Pearl choose between himself and her son
she will lose him. Len realises the error of
his ways and makes things up with Pearl. |

goes ballistic when she wakes up to find a
huge pile
of boxes in the living room at Pear Tree Cottage

in useful for their moving. Chas asks her what
the hell she’s doing there and Sadie tells her
that as the new owner she has every right to
be there. Fortunately Syd arrives and prevents
Chas from throttling Sadie. Later in the pub
Sadie offers Syd the building contract for Pear
Tree Cottage, with the promise of work to follow. |
