Airing on ITV1 Please note this synpsis released to the press refers to it being Jean Tate's birthday. However fans will know she was born on the 24th January 2003. The actual episode itself didn't necessarily suggest it was Jean's actual birthday, however Viv did want to hold a Christmas party to celebrate with Jean. ITV.COM have also made the same mistake with their review based on the press release.

Viv is bubbling with excitement on the morning of Jean’s birthday but her efforts to spoil her granddaughter on her first birthday go to waste, when Zoe pulls the plug on her party plans telling Scott he is needed to work instead.

Zoe is left high and dry as she tries to manage her staff but ends up without a workforce. She manages to upset both Jack and Scott when neither men take kindly to Zoe throwing her weight around and promptly resign.

Drunk and dishevelled Scott returns home to Viv and Bob, who were expecting him to bring Jean back. In a fit of rage, he throws Jean’s birthday cake at the wall angrily insisting the party is over.

Later a brooding Scott reflects on his situation, wondering whether Zoe will ever let him be a part of Jean’s life, or whether she was just using him after all.

In the hospital, Marlon desperately tries to bring Tricia out of her coma and hurries home to pack up all of her favourite photos and records, in the hope that it will stir her from her relentless slumber.

Elsewhere in the village, Louise and Ashley no longer see their relationship through rose tinted glasses. The initial novelty has evidently worn off. Is there a future for this unlikely couple?
