Back in court, Zoe is called as a witness, Charity remains quietly confident but is horrified when Zoe sticks to her original statement, adamant that Charity murdered Chris.
Elsewhere in the village, Louise continues to be riled by Bernice’s presence in the village and her interfering ways within the Woolpack. Feeling insecure about her relationship with Ashley, she becomes increasingly irritated.
Meanwhile, the bishop questions Ashley about his relationship with Louise, asking whether he is going to marry her. Little does he know, Louise is in earshot and has heard every word. Uncomfortable, Ashley is forced to admit that she wouldn’t be an appropriate wife for a vicar just as Louise enters the room. Both men are mortified as they turn to face her.
Later, Louise and Ashley face facts about their relationship and agree that things are not going to work out long term. They agree to tell nosy neighbours that Louise ended the brief relationship, when really they both know it was the other way round.
