Episode 3465 Monday 16 June 2003 at 7:00pm

Dawn has taken the news that she has contracted rubella extremely badly. The possibility of her child being born with a disability is weighing heavily on her mind. Meanwhile, Terry is also struggling to come to terms with the news. Dawn is devastated as he has clammed up emotionally and is making himself scarce. Taking Terry’s evasive behaviour to heart, a depressed and lonely Dawn is forced to contemplate taking drastic action.

Bob has only just got used to the idea of his daughter being married to Terry and the patter of tiny feet seemed to soften the blow. The news that Dawn may abort his unborn grandchild really takes the wind out of his sails and he begs her to reconsider, but Dawn remains non-committal and his pleas fall on deaf ears.

Chloe (AMY NUTTALL) lapdances for Syd (NATHAN GLADWELL).

Elsewhere in the village, it looks like Yolanda’s profession as a lap-dancer has rubbed off on Chloe, when she decides to step up her pursuit of Syd by giving him a private performance.

Eithne's Review ©2003

Chloe was continuing to flirt with Syd. She came onto him when Scott was working on Chris’ car, and did a sexy lap dance which made Syd very uncomfortable. Scott almost walked in on Chloe’s dance though. Later in the pub Chloe discovered a picture of herself, Scott and Jean at the christening in Scott’s wallet which puzzled her. Scott lied about it though.

Elsewhere in Emmerdale:

Sam was annoyed at pollard, who he thought was trying to steal Lisa while Zak was away. His attempts at stopping Pollard from going to dinner at the Dingles failed and Pollard arrived. Lisa noticed the tension and asked Sam what the matter was. He told her and she reassured him that she and Pollard weren’t going to get together. Shadrach also thought that Pollard was after Lisa and decided to fill in the void left by Zak.

Bob was annoyed at Jean, who he thought wasn’t letting himself speak to Dawn who was in Spain with Terry. When he told Diane and Louise, the latter was shocked by the news that Terry had left without saying goodbye. She was annoyed, which worried Diane.

Siobhan didn’t want to visit the Marsden’s house after her and Frances’ argument over abortion. Bob had a go at Siobhan, claiming that she’d put the idea of abortion into Dawn’s head.

Raisins, Sam’s goat, was expecting a kid.

Jack was unhappy with Andy’s farming methods.

Tensions between Syd (NATHAN GLADWELL) and Chloe (AMY NUTTALL) come to a head.

Episode 3466 Monday 16 June 2003 at 7:30pm

Neglecting her baby sitting duties, one thing leads to another and Chloe’s passion turns to horror when she hears a crash from the kitchen. Nothing could prepare her for the scene that greets her when she finds that baby Jean has fallen from the table and is lying screaming, injured on the floor.

Lisa

Meanwhile at the Dingles, while the cat’s away the mice will play and even family loyalties don’t stop Shadrach vying for Lisa’s attentions. With her husband Zak in deepest darkest South America, will she reciprocate his affections or stay true to her absent husband?

Lisa (JANE COX) knees Shadrach (ANDY DEVINE) in the groin and warns him to keep his hands off her

After the incident on the Dingles roof, Sam is keen to put a smile back on Marlon’s face. It takes a lot of persuading, but Marlon finally agrees to go poaching with his cousin. Marlon is a bundle of nerves as he fishes on the Home Farm estate, but he finally manages to steady his hand and catch a fish. However, the smile is quickly wiped off his face when Zoe catches him red handed.

Chloe was still continuing with her flirtatious behaviour towards Syd. Syd was feeling more and more uncomfortable. Chloe asked Syd to sleep with her in the street, much to Edna’s disapproval. But Syd later turned up at Home Farm and he and Chloe slept together. But as he was leaving they heard a crash. Jean had fell out of her seat and was crying. Syd wanted to take her to the hospital, but Chloe said no.

Elsewhere:

Shadrach was continuing with his efforts to try and bed Lisa, which didn’t seem to be working, as she moved away whenever he touched her. Shadrach asked Marlon for advice about how to woo his mystery woman. Marlon agreed to cook dinner for Shadrach and his woman – as long as he found out who it was. Shadrach lied to Marlon about the object of his desires – claiming it was Edna Birch! Marlon was shocked by this, but still agreed to cook the dinner.

Bob was worried about Dawn and Terry. But Dawn rang and told him that she was keeping the baby. He apologised to Siobhan. Bob told Diane and Louise. Diane later had a go at Edna over the matter.

Danny and Ollie weren’t getting on. She was biting his head off one minute, and the next she was fine. He was worried.

ITV.COM Dingle dinner etiquette Monday 16.06.03 (copied here for archive purposes as it will be removed from their site after two weeks)

Lisa is keen for the Dingle family dinner with Pollard to be a success, but it seems although the rest of the household is trying their very best to ruin the event. Sam is so worried that Lisa is on the hunt for Zak’s replacement that he tells a bemused Pollard that Lisa is too ill to cook dinner. But his plan soon fails when Lisa turns up for work alive and kicking. She quickly has to fob off Sam’s comments and reconfirm the dinner date with her employer.

The dinner is pretty disastrous as a horrified Pollard makes his exit at the first opportunity after a combination of Sam’s rudeness and Shadrach’s wind problem scares him off.

With Pollard out of the picture Shadrach is keen to provoke a reaction of jealousy from his hostess by hinting that he has a new love interest. Little does Lisa know that the woman in question is her good self!

At the Woolpack Louise is upset to learn that Terry has chosen not to confide in her over the pregnancy or leaving for Spain.

Meanwhile Bob is still mortified by the notion that he has driven his only daughter away.

Alone with her housemate Chloe puts on a show by mimicking a lap-dancer, much to Syd’s discomfort. Her sights are definitely set on seduction, but boyfriend Scott interrupts just as Chloe is about to do her finale.

Elsewhere Jack is feeling less than charitable towards Terry after Chris lumbers him with all the additional chores. It’s Chris who points out how much is at stake for Terry and that the break will go the couple good.

Syd tries to persuade Chloe to take Jean to casualty to be checked out after her fall, but the nanny is too worried about losing her job, insisting that Jean is fine and doesn’t need medical attention.

Shadrach is making a nuisance of himself at the Dingles, especially around Lisa who is starting to feel noticeably uncomfortable with his over tactile ways.

Later a depressed Shadrach confides in Marlon that he’s feeling very lonely and is scared that he’ll end up a sad old man. He begs Marlon to help him seduce a ‘special lady’ by utilising his culinary skills to win her heart. When Marlon asks whom this female is, Shadrach can’t bring himself to tell Marlon the truth so ends up announcing that it’s Edna Birch!

Bob is delighted when Dawn phones from Spain to tell him that they have decided to keep the baby, despite the risk of health problems. As he raises a toast to his family in the Woolpack, Louise seems a little distracted by the news.

In a panic Chloe tries to cover up the accident, scared that Zoe will sack her for negligence if she comes clean. Danny was still worrying about Ollie. Len talked to Edna about her strange behaviour. Later Danny searched Ollie’s schoolbag, but was interrupted by Len. Danny found Ollie in the graveyard and confronted her over what he’d found – a bottle of pills. He told her that Angie would have been disgusted and they continued to argue.

Elsewhere:

Zoe was leaving for the seaside, meaning that Chloe had a few days off from work.

Betty was still annoyed that she had to see Siobhan rather than the previous district nurse. Seth let slip to a worried Edna that Betty was on antibiotics, but refused to say anything else.

Paul gave Frances a present. He then had dinner with his family and was willing to eat another to keep Siobhan happy. Louise suggested that they should have a housewarming to get to know everyone in the village – an idea which Paul and Siobhan liked.

Andy’s advert in the post office for a farm labourer finally paid off as Ben, a keen biker, turned up. But he was annoyed as his search for a mower for the silage didn’t seem to be paying off. Ben suggested that Andy let about ten bikers use one of his fields. Andy agreed.

Victoria was pretending to be ill, using the old thermometer in the tea trick. Siobhan took a look at her and found that there was nothing wrong with her. Jack spoke to Victoria and she agreed to return to school the following day.
