| With his financial problems mounting, Jack came under increasing
pressure to use the money that Harry had given him. But unbeknown
to him the decision had been taken out of his hands, thanks
to his children.
Faced with expensive repairs on his tractor Jack decided
to dip in to Harry s money on May 14th. But he
was shocked to discover that the cash had gone missing
and he immediately suspects Andy. Jack confronts him and
was mortified to hear that Andy had given it to Cain Dingle.
Jack approached Cain, but things began to turn nasty
when he refused to return the money. Jack was forced
to back down when Cain revealed that he knew that Andy
was responsible for starting the barn fire that killed Sarah.
Tension was high in the Sugden household
as Andy's friendship with Cain drove a
wedge between him and Jack. Robert was
feeling neglected and told his father that
his relationship with Andy is dividing
the family. Andy tried to reason with Cain
in a bid to recoup the money he gave him,
while Jack searched for answers in the
bottom of a whisky bottle.

On May 15th, Charity finally admited
to Chloe that she has a lover
- she refused to reveal who, but insisted she will continue
to see Chris at the same time.
Chris's suspicions reached an all
time high on May 16th, and
he grilled Chloe for a second time in a bid to discover
Charity's lover. He was rude to Andrew, openly jealous of Rodney and
untrusting of Terry, Marlon, Sean and Scott. Charity flaunted
herself in a new dress and Chris warned her never to
cross him.
May 17th was
the day of the big party at Home Farm and Chris was plotting
to use the occasion to discover once and for all who
Charity was seeing behind his back.
All six supects - Sean, Terry, Rodney, Marlon, Scott and Andrew
- were there and Chris planned on trying to get the better of
each and everyone of them until he could pinpoint Charity's lover.
Zak and Cain had their own idea of how to make the party go with
a bang. They menacingly decided to visit Home Farm in a bid to
wreak vengeance on the Tates for Butch's death but were forced
to get physical sooner than they had planned when they were discovered
breaking in.
Chris was relieved when Charity
showed up but temperatures started to rise when she got
close to Scott and arranged a secret rendezvous with Rodney.
As the party went with a swing, Tara got
wind that Charity was planning to meet Rodney and tips off Chris.
Chris hid in the shadows, waiting for Charity to show up
- unaware she was in the drawing room with her lover all
along - Zoë!

On May 18th Zoë told
Charity she was going away for a couple of weeks and
asked her to meet her for a night while she was away,
but Charity said she'd best not.
Chris put Andrew in the frame as Charity
s lover and questioned him as to who he was with at
the party. Andrew refused to rise to the bait and furious
at Chris s outburst, Charity stormed out of the Stud
Farm.
Bob and Terry assumed that Carol and
Viv have called a cease fire when they strike up a conversation
in the Woolpack. But trouble was just around the corner,
and Viv was furious when Carol announced that she has
decided to bring the opening of the Bed and Breakfast
forward to coincide with Viv s birthday.
Bernice was disappointed when Ashley
told her that he was going to have to go away to look
after another parish for a week.
Kathy warned Marlon that she will
not stay in business with him as long as Chris is a partner

May 22nd was
the day of the grand opening of the Bed and Breakfast.
But while Carol was busy putting the
finishing touches to her party, Viv was sulking over her former
friend s destruction of her dreams. Carol rubed her
nose in it further when she delivered Viv s birthday
present and used the opportunity to tell her that she
has failed to achieve anything with her life. But Carol
s mood deteriorated when Terry told her that he has
booked in her first guests a rugby team, and her plans
of holding a stylish bash are dealt a blow with the arrival
of some unwelcome visitors,(Zak and Cain). The evening
descended into chaos, when Viv showed her face and let
Carol know exactly what she thinks of her new business
venture buy throwing a drink in her face! Then Viv got
upset when she spotted Carol throwing away all of the
decorations and resolved to get her revenge. She visited
Carol with a bottle of wine as a peace offering, but
when her back is turned, Viv hides a packet of prawns
in the room.
Terry was furious when the guests
arrived and Carol belittled his involvement in the Bed
and Breakfast, so infuriated by her attitude, he stormed
out leaving her to cope on her own, only to go back the
next day like a wimp.
Zak was furious to find Pollard using the Dingles
driveway as his own personal car park. When he refused
to move his car, Zak took matters into his own hands
and Pollard was outraged when he returned to find his
car clamped and Zak demanding a release fee.
Intrigued by Charity s illicit affair, Chloe quizzed her about the
identity of her mysterious lover. Enjoying the attention,
Charity told her it was Zoë, much to Chloe s amazement.
Chris put Charity on the
spot when he asked her if she would still
be with him, if he wasn t paying her.
He was disappointed by her response and
began to fear that she does not reciprocate
his feelings for her.

The Dingles were
livid when they received a visit from a D.S.S. officer
informing them that Zak was no longer eligible for
employment benefits. Convinced that someone in the
village has informed on him, that on May
23rd Zak resolved to track down the culprit
and make them pay. The finger of suspicion pointed
firmly at Pollard. Pollard was disturbed when Sam told
him that Zak is convinced that he was responsible for
grassing them up to the authorities. Sam demanded that
he gives him a proper job or he will help his father
get his revenge on him. Zak approached Charity and
questioned her about being visited by a D.S.S. officer.
She pleaded her innocence and he was stunned when she
told him that Cain has already betrayed him by sitting
on a pile of cash that he stole from her. Zak returned
home and confronted Cain, who tried to convince his
father that Charity was lying. But Zak found the cash.
The next day on May
24th Zak blamed Charity for causing the
family rift. Charity insisted Cain is to blame and
told him again about the money he stole from her.
Cain was furious with Sam for revealing the location of his money,
but Sam was spared a beating when he threatened to reveal all
about his affair with copper, Angie Reynolds.
The family found it hard to believe the hardship they endured
while Cain was in possession of a lot of money. Zak told him
to take some time and consider his place in the family. Later
Cain went round to Charity's house and after an argument he slapped
her across the face.
Carol and Viv are at it again much
to the dismay of Terry and Bob. And Carol sank to the
lowest of the low when she vindictively revealed that
Viv is really 45 and not 39 as she says, but Bob knew Viv's age all along.
Bernice is finding it tough seeing Carlos and Nicola together
and it's embarrassment all round when she bumps into
him at the bathroom door.
Rodney suggested that Marlon should
hire a private investigator to find Tricia.

|
| On May
25th Bernice was mortified to hear that
Nicola was intending on asking Carlos to move in with
her, and she was not the only one who was less than
happy about the idea, Carlos himself was less than
thrilled by Nicola s plans, but agreed to give it
some thought.
Nicola told Bernice that her dream
is to be in a relationship like her and Ashley. Unable
to live with the lie any longer, Bernice admits that
life with Ashley is not as rosy as she hoped it would
be.
Chris is shocked to see that Charity
has been beaten up. On learning that her injuries were
caused by a Dingle, Chris confronts Zak and demands
to know why he attacked Charity. Zak is confused as
to what he is on about, but puts two and two together
and realises that it must have been Cain.
Cain collared Sam and demanded to
know what he intends to do with the knowledge that
he is having an affair with Angie. And Marlon considered
enlisting a Private Investigator to help track down
Tricia.

| Ashley organised a
fun-run to raise money for a maternity ward. On May
29th Bernice started the race and when Carlos
came in first she had to kiss him for the newspaper photographer.
It was very obvious how awkward they felt.
After she and Carlos kissed she
was handed a baby to hold for a picture and that completely
threw her and she ran off. Although Ashley tried to
follow her he got cornered by a journalist and Carlos
ended up having to comfort her. It was only then, when
she's upset that she was brave enough to tell Carlos
it wasn't just the baby that made her run away, it
was because she had to kiss him. She moved forward
to kiss him again but stops herself, and it's actually
Carlos who acknowledged there's something between them
and kissed her back.
The next day Carlos and Bernice wrestled with their consciences
over their stolen kiss. Bernice insisted it was a one-off, but
later when she visits to berate him over his treatment of Nicola,
she can't help admitting her attraction. This time they kiss
spontaneously and life was about to change for both of them.
The next day Bernice and Carlos spend the day avoiding one another.
And when finally they meet again in the evening it is impossible
for them to talk privately without making things obvious.
Seth bet Len £5 that he wouldn't
put a tassle on Edna's hat to make her look like Tommy
Cooper. He did, much to the delight of Betty.
Angie was shocked to see the bruising
on Charity's face and is convinced Cain is behind it.
But Charity will not name her attacker Dingle law
prevents it.
Zak is left seething when the DSS
demand that he repays over £1,000 of benefits.
Diane and Turner drew a blank in London looking for Tricia.
Kathy was interested when Rodney
offers to invest in Chez Marlon.
Jack pondered selling the farm,
or a portion of it, to keep afloat. Andy and Victoria
both want to stay at the farm, while Robert reluctantly
agrees with them. Seth tells him of a farmer friend
who sold land off for a phone company to erect an aerial
and the next day Jack decided to take Seth's advice
and see if he can interest a phone company in some
of his land.
On May 30th Robert finally
snaped and all the pent-up emotion he's been bottling came pouring
out. He felt he owes nothing to the farm that has brought so
much misery into his life. He rounded on Andy saying that he's
convinced his dad did kill Sarah. The two started to fight and
suddenly Andy blurted out the truth. Robert is speechless.
Alan
Turner planned a meal for two for him and Diane.
|
|
| On May
31st Robert was
horrified by Andy's admission
that he was responsible for starting the fire that
killed his mother. Unable to come to terms with the
revelation, he flees the house desperate to get as
far away from his adopted brother as possible.
Seeing his son s desperate escape, Jack confronted
Andy and was furious to discover why Robert was so
upset. Fearing for Robert s state of mind, Jack begins
a desperate search for him.
He enlisted Richie s help, but Turner was less than happy when
Jack interrupted his romantic meal with Diane and asks them to
look after Victoria while he continues his search.
As afternoon turned in to evening,
Jack finally discovered where Robert has been hiding.
He tried to persuade him to return home, but Robert
told him that he will not live in the same house as
Andy.
Jack suggested that he could arrange
for him to stay with Annie and Amos in Spain for a
while. He was heartbroken when Robert agreed, but demanded
to leave that night.
Bernice and Carlos give in to temptation
and decide to embark on a full blown affair.
