Bob is preparing to leave and gives Viv some sexy lingerie as a going-away present, while Sam is about to drop a bombshell - he is also about to leave Emmerdale! Adam muddles his arrangements to give a talk to schoolchildren by going to the wrong venue.

PART ONE - Adam prepares his notes and slides for the careers talk at the Comprehensive, he tells Gloria and Paddy that he plans to grab their attention with some of his African stories, Paddy tells Gloria that it isn't exactly his idea of fun; On his departure Bob gives Viv underwear as a present and she tries to tempt him to stay just a little longer by giving him a sneak preview, Kelly is disgusted with the way Viv carries on trying to persuade Bob to stay; Sam worries about being banged up again and tells Cain that he is scared of getting in trouble again, Cain tries to persuade him that the police won't bother him anymore; Bev brings her class to the surgery wanting Adam to give his careers talk there, as he's already at the school she convinces Paddy to do it instead although he is not keen; Betty accompanies Edna back to her house but Edna refuses to let her know where she has been, shutting the front door in her face; Seth comments on how dreadful Scott looks as Betty acknowledges that what goes around comes around; Paddy gives his talk and tries to disappear back into the surgery before the children can ask questions, when he is called to see Zak's pigs, Bev is delighted and persuades Paddy to let the class come with him and observe his work; Marlon is disappointed that the bank will only give him half the money he needs but refuses to use the wedding money which Tricia keeps offering; The school children observe Paddy as he diagnosis that the pigs have swine flu, answering questions from the children and Bev he becomes nervous as he realises he has an audience watching him work;

PART TWO - Tricia assures Marlon that she is disappointed too; Edna shows Gloria the photos of her holiday and Gloria is amazed to learn that Edna took Batley the dog with her illegally, Gloria promises to not tell anyone but warns Edna not to show the photos to anyone else; Scott is unsure that Betty will really want him in her house but Seth reassures him that she knows that everyone does stupid things when they are young; Bev thanks Paddy and lets him know how impressed she is with his commitment to his job, Zak decides to provide the school children with refreshments for a small fee, Bev is horrified to see Cain selling cigarettes to the children, Lisa questions Sam over what is on his mind and he tells her that he wants to go and visit his mum in Ireland to escape from the watch of the police, he is scared of what Zak might say; Marlon tells Tricia he is still fed up because the bank turned him down for a loan; Marlon tells Tricia he will take her money if it's still on offer; Marlon tells Pollard he doesn't want him involved in his business plans for the diner; Adam turns up at the Dingles ready to start talking to the children, Bev tells him there's no need for him to stay as Paddy has already shown them everything and the kids have really enjoyed themselves; Paddy tells Bev he's quite enjoyed it; Bev asks Paddy if he'd like to go the pub with her for a drink; Paddy reluctantly agrees; Viv is miserable because Bob has left again; Sam tries to talk to Zak about what happened with the police and how scared he was; Sam lies to Zak and tells him Cain had nothing to do with it; Sam tells Zak he wants to stay out of bother; Sam tells Zak he wants to go and live in Ireland with his mother; he has made up his mind and wants to leave tonight; Zak tells Sam he will miss him; Marlon asks Paddy if he's alright; Bev turns up; Paddy orders a pint of orange; Sam is saying goodbye to the family; Zak gives Sam some money; they hug; Sam even says he will miss Cain; Zak is close to tears as he says goodbye to Sam; Sam leaves;

Paddy is slowly getting over splitting up with Mandy but while he apologises for his recent behaviour, he still refuses to redecorate his house and truly move on. Ashley has second thoughts about contacting Bernise's Father Rodney but Emily reassures him he has done the right thing.

Part One- Paddy brings flowers to apologise to Gloria for his recent drunken behaviour and invites her for lunch at his house, Gloria is touched; Zak is subdued now that Sam has gone and is disappointed that he's gone already, Lisa ensures him that Sam wouldn't want him moping around; Viv is disappointed as Bob has still not rung and makes excuses to Kelly that he is obviously a very busy man; Cain tells Zak that he can't help out on the farm as he is on his way to sign on, Zak playfully swings for him when Cain says that Sam will turn up again like a bad penny always does; Marlon is delighted when Chris decides to back the restauraunt but tells him that Kathy musn't know; Ashley buys sweets in anticipation of the trick or treaters for Halloween, Edna is disgusted that he is encouraging the halloween nonesense, Emily and Ashley are suprised by Edna's knowledge of horror films; Ashley apologises to Zoe and Adam for being there in body but not spirit recently, Adam tells him that he admires him for having the guts to apologise; Viv tells Emily how much she misses Bob, Emily agrees that Viv has perked up since Bob arrived on the scene; Angie visits the farm to see what is in Zak's skip, he argues with her why Sam should feel so intimidated by the police that he has to leave, Angie suggests that he asks Cain.

Part Two- Kathy is suprised that Marlon has got the money, although he doesn't reveal the truth about where it's from, Marlon suggests that they should get rid of Betty as he feels she is too matronly for the image they arte trying to create; Alan, Diane and Kelly dress up for Halloween, Kelly moans about Viv and how she has turned into a schoolgirl over Bob, they encourage Kelly to see that Viv does deserve some happiness afterall; Gloria questions the decor of Paddy's house, Paddy chats about how he is enjoying single life, Gloria advises him to enjoy his time pon his own and tells Paddy about her mistake with Ashley; Zak angrily questions Cain over his and Sam's involvement with the armed robbery, Cain tells him to get real and is warned to tread carefully; Betty and diane are confused as why Kathy would need to see them; Edna is disgusted with the halloween them of the pub, Edna admits that she had a lovely time at the wedding in France; Paddy thanks Jason but tells him that he doesn't want to start redecorating just yet; Cain stops Angie's car and asks her why she should tell tales on him to Zak, he flirts with Angie telling her that he loves it when she gets angry with him; Kathy tells Betty, Diane and Carlos that Marlon is the new partner in the diner, they are shocked and Carlos and Diane storm off as Marlon begins to discuss his proposals for the change of style to a restauraunt;

Kelly makes a pass at Bob, much to Viv's horror, but is left humiliated and decides to leave Emmerdale forever. Diane is shaken by Rodney's arrival and persuades Ashley to move him out of the vicarage before Bernice returns.

KEY EVENT - KELLY LEAVES

Part One- Viv tells Donna that Bob is a dream come true and breaks it to her that she's going to ask him to move in with them, Kelly suggests that she's jumping the gun and it might scare him off, Viv tells her to trust her and wants them to understand that they need a man about the house; Rodney is nervous as the day Bernice arrives home is getting near, he asks for Ashley reassurance that he should even be here and that Bernice will want to see him; Diane visits Jack to cheer herself up, she is agitated and talks about her fears for when Bernice arrives back, they go for a roll in the hay!; Kelly questions Viv about how faithful Bob actually is, Kelly is angered when Viv suggests that if he wants to bring his children they can share a room with her; Zak tells Paddy that as far as they are concerned he will always be a dingle, he agrees with Paddy when he says he wants to be his own man and doesn't charge him for the visit; Diane is disgusted when she sees Rodney flirting with a younger woman and thinks that perhaps she should warn the girl, she feels as if she could murder him for what he has put her through, when Ashley arrives she takes him into the back and angrily warns him that Bernice will not want to meet Rodney, Ashley eventually agrees that he will talk to Rodney and let him know that this isn't such a good idea.

Part Two- Betty calls Viv a fast mover as she parades around the shop in various outfits for Bob's arrival, Bob arrives and Viv is flumoxed as she hasn't finished her hair, she suggests he and Kelly go across to the Woolpack and she will join them in a while; Not wanting to go home, Donna goes to Marc's house; Bev thanks Paddy again and invites him to become a judge for the school science competition; Carlos is tempted when Diane invites him to come and work at the pub instead of the diner; Kelly becomes increasingly fed up as Bob tells her that Viv is one of the most wonderful women he has ever met; Zak offers Jason and Lisa's services for the decor of the diner to Marlon, he refuses; Marlon is flabbergasted when Diane tells him that Carlos is going to come and work at the pub as the chef; Kelly begins to flirt with Bob and suggests that he is interested in her, Bob is horrified and as Viv approaches he shouts at Kelly and expresses his disgust, Viv calls her an evil little minx as she witnessed the whole conversation, Betty follows Viv and Bob as they rush off to get Kelly; Viv tells Kelly that she has gone to far this time and she wants her out of the house, she disowns her, Kelly tells her that she doesn't want things to change and that Bob should keep out, they insult each other and then slap each other before Kelly storms out, Viv pleads with Bob to stay and move in with her but he refuses saying that she needs to sort things out with her family before she even considers living with anyone else, Viv is heartbroken as he leaves; Donna walks out on Marc after he suggests they go upstairs; Kelly tells Scott that she has decided to move back to London as she hates all the people around here, she tries to persuade Scott to come with her, but he refuses and tells her to go and pack her stuff; Rodney suggests that he should move into a B&B when Bernice gets back and Ashley agrees that it would be a sensitive thing to do; Donna is shocked and upset when she sees Kelly is leaving and asks her not to go like this.

Episode 2778 - 02 Nov 2000

Bernice gets the shock of her life when she returns home from Sorrento and comes face-to-face with the father she has not seen since she was five-years-old. Marc and Donna get carried away by the physical side of their relationship and are left feeling shocked and confused by their actions.

Part One- Betty, Alan and Diane discuss the previous night's scandal about the Windsors, Diane is angry at Ashley for not pursuading Rodney to leave as he explains that Rodney is only moving out of the vicarage; Emily tries to convince Viv that she was at least lucky to have known Bob and to take comfort with her friends, VIv is touched by Emily's kindness; Betty questions Viv for the gossip under the guise of her concern for Viv; Jack appreciates that Paddy has been going through a bad time and thanks him for going to the effort of apologising; Angrily Diane confronts Rodney to get him to leave, Rodney sees that Diane is scared that she will have to answer questions and intimidates her that she is the only person with a problem; Jack receives divorce settlement papers and Paddy realises that he hadn't even thought about him and Mandy getting a divorce; Diane tries to reason with Rodney but he doesn't want to know, he wants to put the record straight with Bernice and get her to know what he is really like and not how Diane portrays him.

Part Two- Viv knows that Bob is avoiding him and decides that he has no place in her life anymore by symbolically throwing away his lingerie in the bin; Diane is shocked and panicked to discover that Bernice has taken an early flight home, she manages to persuade Jason to cover for her for a couple of hours; Carlos and Marlon reach a compromise that Carlos will help out at the restauraunt sometimes; Scott tells Viv that Kelly does seem genuinely upset and he is sure that Viv and Bob will work it out; Bernice arrives back and Jason realises that she obviously doesn't know about her father's presence in the village; Betty shares the gossip with Paddy over tea and biscuits and enquires how he is saying that it's good to see him happy again; Bernice tells everyone about her trip to Italy as no- one dares to tell her about Rodney, Rodney enters the pub and realises that it is Bernice behind the bar; Donna is upset as she talks to Marc about how she misses Kelly and how her family is so messed up, they kiss and go upstairs although Donna is unsure; Bernice serves Rodney a pint and introduces herself to him presuming that he is a new customer; Donna runs out on Marc after they have sex for the first time; Betty, Viv and Gloria feel awkward knowing that they should really do something or say something to Bernice, Bernice begins to get a little freaked out by Rodney's attention and is confused when he asks her if she knows who he is, Alan enters the pub and is shocked at seeing Bernice back and Rodney at the bar; Bernice guesses that Rodney is her father.

Episode 2779 - 03 Nov 2000

Bernice is left confused by the sudden re-emergence of her Father and demands he leave. Diane arrives and an almightily row ensues which culminates with Bernise ordering her Mother to leave. While Donna is left confused after her night of passion with Marc, Marc boasts about it to Marlon.

Part One- Alan, Viv, Betty and Gloria watch on as Rodney explains why he is here, Bernice takes him through to the back where Rodney apologises for the shock she has just had, Bernice asks him if he is here for money as she can't understand why he would come, Bernice pours them a brandy and insults him; Marlon and Tricia decide to go for the plush but cosy look for the restauraunt; Bernice is shocked to realise that Rodney has been staying at the vicarage, when Rodney explains that Ashley invited him to come thinking that she wanted to see him, she is disgusted and tells Rodney that he is the last person she wants at her wedding; when Terry tries to talk to an upset Donna, she storms off; Alan doesn't know what to do and wishes Diane would hurry up and get back; Bernice questions Rodney as to why he would leave her and Diane, he tells her that it is the biggest mistake he has ever made and has regretted it ever since; Robert is disappointed when Jack hasn't got the money for him to go on a geography field trip; Rodney reminices about his romance with Diane and explains that he is a coward not being able to cope with the responsibility of their realtionship, Diane storms in and demands to know what they've been talking about, questioning whether he has told Bernice about his affairs, she tells him that he lost his right to talk to Bernice when he walked out on them, Bernice watches on as they shout about the past and how Rodney tried to stay in touch with Bernice but Diane wouldn't let him, they argue about each other's drinking habits until Bernice screams at them to stop it and remember that this is about her and not them.

Part Two- Diane is shocked when Bernice tells her she wants Rodney to stay. Marc asks for Marlon's advice about sex, Marlon is suprised and shocked that Marc and Donna didn't use protection; Bernice wants to know why Diane kept Rodney from seeing her for some many years; Robert goes to his mum for money for the field trip, Richie gives it to him in cash; Tricia goes to see Donna knowing that she will need a friend; As Rodney leaves he is grateful to Bernice for seeing him, although Diane warns him not to bother coming back, Bernice is angry at Diane for keeping Rodney from seeing her, Diane explains that he didn't bother to go through the courts to see her so therefore he really couldn't be bothered; Donna worries that she might have become pregnant so Tricia decides to take her to the family planning clinic; Diane tries to get Bernice to see that he left them as she goes to fetch another bottle of brandy; she returns to Bernice and begins to tell her how much she means to her; Viv chats to Terry about how she wants Donna to stay a baby; Bernice throws the bottle of brandy at the wall as she accuses Diane of stopping her from seeing her father for all these years; Diane sits on the stairs and breaks down as does Bernice in the room.

Ashley is forced to accept that his idea to re-unite Bernise with her Father has backfired when she gives him back her engagement ring and declares their relationship over. Richie finds himself torn between his career and Sarah when Chris offers him the chance to increase his investment in Tate Technology. Donna is still in shock after sleeping with Marc and worries that she might be pregnant.

PART ONE - Ashley prepares the table for his dinner with Bernice this evening, Diane enters and coldly informs him that she actually arrived home yesterday but is certainly not missing him anymore because she met Rodney last night whilst serving him in the Woolpack, Diane tells Ashley that her and Bernice's lives were good until he poked his nose in and now they can't move for skeletons coming out if the cupboard, Ashley doesn't understand why Diane is so angry, she tells him that of course he wouldn't understand and he should stay away from Bernice, she blames Ashley for the fact that Bernice is no longer talking to her and gets upset as she tells him that he has messed both Bernice and her lives up, Ashley is dumbfounded; Scott questions Donna as to why she is waiting at the bus stop, she asks him why he is so interested, when he leaves Tricia takes her up to the taxi and tells her not to worry; Jack is impressed that the boys have laid the table and set out Victoria's favourite toys, Andy presents Jack with a jigsaw he and Robert have made in their lunch hour for Victoria, Andy says that he didn't think he would miss her that much, Jack reassures them that they will soon have her back where she belongs; Bernice refuses to speak to Diane saying that she has nothing to say and that she doesn't want to talk about it; Donna and Tricia visit the family planning clinic where Donna pleads with the doctor not to tell her mum, Donna explains that she had unprotected sex and is afraid she might get pregnant, the doctor is sympathetic and begins to ask her a few questions; Diane rings Jack needing to talk to him, she is disappointed when he explains that He is having Victoria for the day, as she hangs up she breaks down; the doctor chats to Donna asking her if she agreed to have sex with Mark and how old she is, Donna understands about the risk of aids and tells the doctor that she has discussed this with Tricia, the doctor encourages her to talk with Marc about sex even though Donna feels funny about him now, Tricia agrees that Marc is a good lad, the doctor advises Donna to chat to Tricia or her mum in the future if she has any doubts and to use contraception, the doctor decides to give her the morning after pill and Donna feels better about the situation; Richie goes to see Chris and they discuss Kelly's departure, Chris admits that oddly enough he does miss her, Chris hints that he is glad Ritchie can appreciate an inappropriate relationship when he sees one, Chris propositions Ritchie to increase his investments in Tate Technology with him, Ritchie explains that he doesn't have any capitol and Chris suggests that he could reinvest some of his salary, Chris lets him have 24 hours to think about the idea when Ritchie explains that he now has a family to think about and therefore he doesn't have the money, Chris bluntly tells Ritchie that this may be the time to use his ability to recognise an inappropriate relationship; Donna is relieved as she leaves the doctors, Tricia says that she will ring her at 11 PM to remind her to take the second pill, Donna doesn't think that she will ever forget this and Tricia is sympathetic, Donna thanks Tricia and tells her that now Donna has gone she wishes Tricia really was her sister; Diane questions why Ashley is in the Woolpack, Ashley apologises for catapulting her into the middle of this terrible emotional turmoil, Diane accepts his apology but is then angered when he asks to see Bernice, she explains that Bernice is upset, angry and confused and has locked herself away from all of them and so they should leave her until she is ready to talk; Ashley wants to explain to Bernice himself but Alan steps in and gently asks him to just do as Diane says.

PART TWO - Alan and Diane agree that Ashley is a nice and well intentioned man but he doesn't have a clue about women, Diane turns down Alan's offer of a drink and a chat tonight although she knows he understands how she is feeling, Scott advises Ritchie to take the chance that Chris is giving him and Ritchie knows that it is a great opportunity but he has to think about Sarah and Victoria, Scott suggests that he should dump Sarah as she is holding him back; Tara introduces Sean to Virginia, he remembers Virginia from the party, she flirts with him and he makes fun of their friendship; Scott tells Frankie that he wants to make a fresh start with the garage by getting a new backer, he suggests changing the image; Mark asks Tricia how Donna is, she tells him that everything is OK but to give Donna a bit of space although they should have a chat, as Tricia tuts at the youth of today, Diane overhears and comments that Ashley should know better; Excitedly Jack, Robert and Andy bring Victoria back to their house; Tricia pops to see how Bernice is but she doesn't want to talk, Tricia distracts her by telling her about the wedding, Bernice is shocked; Mark is surprised when Ollie asks about his tiff with Donna, she noticed that Donna was unhappy and late for school, Mark storms from the dinner table when Sean and Angie tease about sex; when Tricia asks Bernice whether she approves of the wedding, thoughtfully Bernice tells her that the vows should mean love and commitment although she understands that Tricia is only doing it to help Joe and Jason out; Jack, Andy, Robert and Victoria have fun playing twister; Ritchie is uncomfortable when Sarah proposes a toast to their success; Ashley sits at the laid table alone thinking, he is surprised and happy when Bernice walks through the door, she is silent as he tells her how much he has missed her and wanted to see her, he apologises for getting it wrong and is relieved when she admits that she has missed him too, Bernice gets angry as she explains that she did not mean literally that she wanted to meet her dad and that he should not take his role as God's representative on earth so seriously, she shouts that she somehow will not love her mum in quite the same way now as she has hid such a big thing from her for 26 years, giving the ring back to Ashley she tells him that she missed him so much it hurt but she now realises that she can't marry him as she can't trust him for doing this behind her back, she leaves and Ashley breaks down.

Ritchie turns down Chris's offer of further investment in Tate Technology but when Sarah finds out she hits back by telling him she does not need his sacrifice. There are more shocks in store for Bernice when she discovers from her father that, unbeknown to her, she has a sister!

PART ONE - As Richie gets ready for work Sarah chats about their lovely night together, she feels he is preoccupied but he tells her that he is just thinking about work, she admits that she did miss Victoria last night and is looking forward to seeing her again; Bernice sobs as she tells Tricia and Kathy that she has broken off the engagement, Kathy suggest that she has perhaps been a bit hasty and Bernice reacts angrily shouting that she wishes people would stop interfering in her life; Ashley goes looking for Bernice, a wigless Diane tells him that she stayed at Kathy's not wanting to stay with her, Ashley wonders what he is going to do so Diane reminds him that she did warn him; he feels that if he had known the true story then he would have been more prepared and would have understood better, in anger Ashley shouts that it is not him Bernice is angry at only Diane and that he is a casualty of the situation, furious, Diane doesn't know how he dares heap all the blame on to her, as her right she only hid the truth from Bernice because she loved her and she didn't need to know, Diane is hurt as Ashley shouts that he disagrees that she kept Bernice from seeing her father, realising that he is wrong to judge he apologises and takes her hands, they admit that they are both hurting and although they are the two people that love Bernice the most they have lost her, Ashley cries as he tells Diane that he doesn't think Bernice will ever come back to him, Diane advises him to give Bernice time; chaos reigns in the Sugden house as Jack organises the children for school, Victoria tells Jack that she loves being at home and she wants to come again tonight, she is disappointed when Jack explains that Sarah will be meeting her tonight; Diane is confused when she can't get through to Jack on the phone; when Zak queries Marlon about the restaurant and how it is coming along, Marlon has to admit that he is struggling to get cheap decorators, Zak manages to convince him to get Lisa and Jason to do the job but they will have to be paid more as they will have to prioritise him as a personal favour; Diane visits Jack and he admits that he hasn't managed to pay the phone bill, Diane gives him a blank cheque although he is adamant that he doesn't want it, she wants him to take it as a personal favour to him as she may need to talk to him on the phone, he reluctantly accepts but smiles; Bernice goes to visit Rodney at the B & B who is really pleased to see her, Bernice hasn't been sleeping well over the last couple of nights, Rodney asks Bernice if Ashley getting in touch with him has caused any problems between the two of them, Bernice lies and says it hasn't, Rodney says he's proud of what Bernice has become, Bernice tells Rodney about all the excuses she used to make for why he could never see her, Rodney gets upset and is about to cry, he says she should tell all that to Diane, Bernice asks Rodney if he ever got married again, Rodney tells her he married a woman called Maureen 20 odd years ago, a nice sensible steady woman completely different to Diane, he thought it might work out but it didn't, Rodney tells Bernice that he has another daughter called Nicola, Bernice has a sister;

PART TWO - Marlon tells Kathy he's hired Lisa and Jason to decorate the diner, kathy tells Marlon she thinks it's a great idea; Chris tells Kathy he's heard she's gone into business with a Dingle, Kathy says the thought of going into business with Chris is a lot worse, Chris tells Marlon that Lisa and Jason had better make a good job of things; Tara and Virginia are waiting for Sean in the stud office, they act all girlie and ask him to move a desk around the office, Tara flirts with Sean and looks at his bottom as he starts to move the desk; Sarah has come to meet the kids off the bus, Victoria wants her Dad, she goes off home with Sarah while the boys go home to Jack's, Victoria wants to go with them; Tara and Virginia are still watching Sean shift the table around the office; Richie comes over to the Haulage Yard to see Chris, Richie tells Chris he can't afford to invest in the company at the moment because he needs the money to support Sarah and Victoria, Chris tells Richie that Sarah is holding him back, Chris tells him he's disappointed in him and that he's a fool; Donna is at home doing her homework, Marc comes round, Marc asks her if she's alright, Donna snaps at him a bit, she thinks he's come to find out if she's pregnant or not, Marc tells her that Tricia told him about her going to the clinic, Marc asks her how it was, Marc tells her that she was the first person he'd slept with, Marc and Donna both decide that they were stupid, Marc wants to know if they can still go out but not have sex, Donna says maybe; Richie bumps into Robert in the street, Richie asks how the field trip that he'd paid for went, Robert gets angry and tells Richie everything was better before he came along, Robert says it was only a loan anyway and that he doesn't want to owe Richie anything; Sean is still moving the table around the office, Sean realises it's all been a bit of a game, Sean smiles, Tara tells him he's very sexy, Sean looks like he's almost going to kiss her; Ashley comes into the Woolpack, Bernice sees him and tells Tricia to look after things because she'd rather not be in the bar at the moment, Ashley looks sad as he sees Bernice walk out and goes to leave the pub; Richie comes home, Sarah asks him to play with Victoria while she finishes tea, Victoria tells him to go away, Richie gets angry and has a go at Victoria, Sarah and Richie argue, Richie tells her that Chris asked him to invest in the business and that because of her he didn't take him up on the offer, Sarah says they don't need him to make sacrifices for her and Victoria, Sarah says her and Victoria will leave;

PART ONE - Richie is making up his bed, he's obviously slept on the sofa, Richie asks how Victoria is, Sarah wonders why he cares, Richie apologises for his behaviour last night, he says he shouldn't have shouted at Victoria, Sarah says he must never let that happen again or she will take Victoria and leave; Lisa and Jason arrive for work at Chez Marlon, they have brought a lot of 70's furniture from when they cleared out a club in Hotten, Marlon doesn't want it, Lisa sells it to Pollard for £20; Ashley and Zoe are talking about what he's going to do now, he thought Rodney would be a lovely surprise for Bernice, he can't believe he's left the only woman he'll ever love get away from him, Ashley says Bernice can't even look at him let alone talk things through, he thinks there won't be a wedding; Angie stops Cain before he goes into the Woolpack , she asks him where his money comes from, Cain says that's his secret, Angie asks him where he was at 4am as there have been a spate of farm robberies, Cain says he was safely tucked up in bed if that's where Angie would like to imagine him, Angie warns him that she has her eye on him; Diane comes round to see Jack, she asks him what's wrong, Jack has just found forms for his farming subsidy in a drawer, they should have been submitted in May, Jack blames Sarah as she did all the paperwork, Jack relies on this subsidy to break even and now he won't get a penny; Bernice thinks Jason and Joe have taken advantage of Tricia over the marriage; Sean has come round to see Tara, he can't find her anywhere; Diane asks Jack why he won't go to a benevolent institution, Jack says he won't go to a charity, he's too proud, Jack says he can't expect Diane to bail him out this time; Tara comes in from riding to find Sean, Sean says he had some stuff to discuss with Tara, she asks Sean to keep himself amused while she has a shower, she says she'll be upstairs if he needs her;

PART TWO - Diane tells Bernice she's been to see Jack, Bernice confronts Diane about her half-sister, Diane knew about Nicola all along, Diane says she was being selfish, she thought if Bernice had known she'd had a sister she might have wanted to go and live with them instead of Diane, Bernice says she feels cheated, everyone she loves has lied to her; Sean is still waiting for Tara, the phone rings, Sean answers it, it's Brendan McGowan, Tara comes downstairs after her shower in a dressing gown, Sean says he has to go; Rodney has come to see Bernice, Carlos tries to stop him seeing her, Bernice comes out and tells Rodney to come through to the back so they can talk; Diane wants to know what Rodney is doing here, Diane and Rodney start to argue, Bernice thinks it's about time the three of them sorted things out once and for all, Bernice takes charge of the situation and makes them both sit down, Bernice says she is glad that they have met again but that her mother is the most important thing to her, Diane and Rodney start to argue again about how Rodney took off with Rita Corcoran 26 years ago, Bernice says when they're in her company she wants them to make an effort to be civilised, Bernice tells Rodney that she is no longer engaged to Ashley, Bernice goes back to the pub; Cain is walking along the road when Angie drives up in her police car, she asks Cain where he's going to, Cain says he's just taking a stroll, he knows nothing about any burglaries, he says she can search him if she wants, he leans up against the car and makes Angie search him, Angie obviously feels uncomfortable, she frisks him, Cain seems to be enjoying himself, Cain says one of these days she'll find what she's looking for; Bernice is at the bar talking to Rodney, Rodney says that Nicola would love to meet her, Bernice says no yet, she hasn't got used to the idea yet, Rodney leaves; Sarah turns up at Jack's, Jack shows Sarah the farming subsidy form, she says sorry that she must have forgotten to send off the form, Jack gets angry with her, Sarah had come round to discuss the divorce settlement, Jack says she may aswell tell him what she wants, she's already bled him dry; Eric shows Marlon some dining chairs for his restaurant, Eric sells he wil sell them for £1000, Marlon can't afford that, Eric won't budge on the price; Sarah asks Jack for what's reasonably hers, she wants a fair settlement, Jack wonders where this money is going to come from, Jack tells her he had to sell the fields to Chris Tate to pay for solicitors fees, Jack blames her for the downfall of the farm, Jack throws the change out of his pocket and tells Sarah she's taken everything else so she may as well take this too;

Sean falls for Tara and is initially delighted when she takes him to a dinner party, only to later find the other guests less than amenable. Angie answers a police call out concerning a robbery and visits a darkened house only to find Cain there. Tricia and Joe set about creating a bogus past so their convenience wedding is not discovered by the authorities.

PART ONE - Andy finds Jack looking out over the fields, Jack says he's worked hard building the farm up, Jack says the place was run down when he first started but he was determined to build it up so that he could pass it on to his kids, Jack says this is where the Sugden's belong; Angie arrives, she has come to warn Jack about a spate of tractor thefts over the past few days; Andy starts asking questions about what Sarah wanted yesterday, Jack says he worries too much, there's just a lot to sort out when you get divorced; Tricia and Joe are discussing their fictional relationship, they decide that they met in a nightclub, Barclays in Leeds, Tricia says she was wearing her black pulling outfit and Joe came over with some corny chat-up line but he had a nice smile so she let him buy her a drink, Tricia thinks it's all very exciting, Joe says everything has be water tight because he doesn't want to end up on a boat back to Australia, Marlon comes over and says he's more worried that Tricia might go to jail, Tricia is horrified, Joe reassures her she won't, Tricia tells Joe to write her some love letters, Bernice calls Tricia over to do some work, Joe tells Marlon how lucky he is to have Tricia, Marlon says that Joe is the lucky one; Tricia asks Bernice what she should wear for her wedding, Tricia says she quite fancies wearing red and black, Bernice gets annoyed with Tricia and tells her to shut up, Bernice says she is not engaged to Ashley and never will be, she will not be walking down the aisle; Sean comes in to see Tara, Tara says that Brendan McGowan and his cronies are coming over tonight, they own a string of race horses, he is interested in introducing some of his mares to their stallions but transportation is a problem, she wants Sean to sort out a quotation for her this evening, she's throwing a dinner party tonight, Sean says he'll drop the figures over tonight about 7; Sarah feels that the situation is hopeless as she is tearing the family apart and destroying Jack and the boys, Richie thinks that she sounds as if she wants to get back with Jack; Marlon tries to explain to Joe that Tricia would appreciate a more sincere love letter, Joe uses his words as inspiration; Cain warns Angie to expect a call at about ten this evening, she is confused; Bernice agrees it is right that Rodney should leave now although she tells him that she doesn't want to wait another 26 years to see him again, Rodney realises how lucky he is to have such a wonderful daughter and encourages Bernice to settle her differences with Ashley; Tara convinces a reluctant Sean to stay for the party.

Part Two- Jack is honest with Robert and tells him that it is not guaranteed that the farm will one day be theirs if Sarah gets her way, Robert assures his dad that they will get by; Sean feels that everyone at Tara's party are pillocks, she confirms that they are infact rich pillocks though; Tricia is touched by the fact that Marlon wrote the love letters, Marlon tells Joe and Tricia that they need evidence to back up the relationship and invites them round to his for a photo session; Sean threatens to leave and Tara confesses to making him dress up formally as she can't resist a man in a dinner jacket, she advises him to stay so that they can discuss it later; Angie answers a call of an intruder at the Dingles and Cain suprises her by being there; As Tara sees her guests off, Sean asks her why she bothered inviting him if she was only intending to ignore him all night, they begin to kiss passionately; As they stand close Angie questions Cain as to what he is doing, telling him that it has gone far enough before she is called away by the police before they kiss; in bed, Tara tells Sean that it was definitely worth waiting for, Sean panics and can't believe what he has done as he has never been unfaithful to Angie in 18 years, he insists that this is the end of their affair.

Angie suggests to Sean that they go on holiday but later confides to Sarah that Cain is the man she is really interested in. Sarah resolves to regain her independence and starts job hunting, leaving Richie feeling excluded and resentful.

Part One- As Sean makes Angie breakfast and gives her a bunch of flowers, she questions him as to why he is spoiling her, Angie suggests she takes next week off and they book a cheap flight to Paris but they both realise that committments won't allow them, they agree to spend more time together; Marlon urges Joe and Tricia to be focused and serious about planning their relationship history; Sarah tells Richie that she wants to get a job to help pay the bills, he feels she is discluding her; Eric clears Tricia, Joe and Jason away from his shop as they parade around taking photos; Gloria enquires about the price of a clock and Eric insists that he takes her a drink this evening and they discuss antiques then, she hurries over to Ashley to give her sympathies over Bernice and urges him to make it up with Bernice and not let her go; Betty makes Bernice see the situation from her mother's perspective, Sarah arrives enquiring about the possibility of bar work and Diane is short with her asking whether the novelty of life with Richie has worn off; Richie chats to Scott about how scared he is that he and Sarah are falling apart; Chris aggrivates Sean by telling him that he enjoys watching him and Tara antagonise each other; Ashley visits Bernice to try and make amends, she insists that he leaves her alone for a while to make her own decisions about her life; Eric blackmails Marlon to buy the furniture, Chris is angry and tells Marlon not to disappoint him.

Part Two- Marlon can't stand to see Tricia and Joe kissing for the photos; Gloria asks Bernice if she can have a word about Ashley, she obliges; whilst posing with Joe, Edna whispers to him that Jason is homosexual; Gloria tells Bernice that a good man is in love with her and that she should not deny Ashley as she may never get a better offer, Bernice is furious; Marlon dresses the house up in Christmas decorations and makes them pretend that it is their first christmas, he is annoyed when he feels that the others aren't taking it seriously enough; Eric advises Gloria to get her insurance on her clock updated, she warns him not to ruin the drink by pitching a sale at her, Edna and Betty look on disapprovingly; Sarah snaps at Richie as she explains to him that she is unemployable but she isn't satisfied that he can provide for them both, as he tries to talk to her about their relationship, Sarah walks out saying that she is going to see Angie; Betty offers Gloria advice on her freindship with Eric, Eric comments upon the number of clothes changes that Tricia and Joe have made in the one day; Chris asks Tara about her feelings for Sean, she says she tries to be a positive presence in the community but seems to arouse bad feeling; Sarah tells Angie how she wants some time without any men in her life, Angie agrees and confesses what happened last night with Cain, Sarah is shocked and warns her not to let it go any further; Sean visits Tara to tell her that last night should never had happened and is suprised when she teases him by talking about mundane things such as the business; Sarah warns Angie not to even enter an affair and Angie feels that she is insane even contemplating an affair when things are so good with her husband; Sean and Tara kiss.

Turner is livid when he discovers Tricia's plans to have a convenience marriage with Joe. When Sean and Angie come face-to-face with Cain and Lady Tara in the pub, an uncomfortable atmosphere ensues. Jack is concerned that he made introduced cattle suffering from TB into the herd.

PART ONE - Sean is in the kitchen drinking coffee ; Angie comes downstairs; she thought he was going to wake her ; he says he tried but she was dead to the world ; she goes behind him to cuddle him and suggests that he brings her up a cup of tea but he can't because he is too busy and has got dressed ; it then turns into a little argument because she has took a week off to spend time with him ; Alan is in the back room of the Woolpack ; he is sat down on the sofa propping up some cushions, Diane walks in and asks him if he would like his cushions sorting ; he replies politely by saying that won't be necessary, and reaches behind the cushions to reveal a December issue of Blushing Bride magazine ; they soon discover that it can't be Bernice's as her plans are well under way, which only leaves Tricia ; Alan is troubled because he does not believe Marlon is the right person for Tricia ; Gloria pulls up at Eric Pollard's antique place and shows him a watch which her husband gave to her before he passed away ; she explains to Eric that she has just discovered it's true value ; Eric takes the watch off her to inspect it under a microscope and confirms that it is a true gem and he would be happy to put it in writing for her to her insurers ; he suggests that they can meet tonight for a drink so that he can give the copy to her ; Gloria agrees and puts the watch in the glovebox of her car because she is afraid to wear it ; Chris is happily reading his paper and drinking coffee when Zoe walks in ; he asks her why she is not at work but she explains that she wanted a day off and Paddy is taking her calls ; Zoe suggests to Chris that they spend the day together and go for lunch or a drive but he is too busy and refuses ; Of course Zoe is upset as it is a year since Liam died - the one she shot ; Zoe and Chris have an argument because she just wants him to be there for her ; Frankie walks in and is ignored by Zoe ; Gloria takes her car to Scott's garage complaining of it being sluggish ; he asks her to leave it with them until tomorrow and takes her number ; she takes the watch from the glovebox ; Tara is at the stables when Sean turns up - he has been trying to ring her ; he tells her that it is not easy for him what has happened between them as he has never done this before ; he does not understand how she can just ignore him and that she can't just use him when she wants ; Sean kisses Tara against the stables when Virginia is about to come in ; Sean asks Tara to meet him but she has plans ; Virginia tells Tara there is a phone call for her and she walks off to take it ; Tricia arrives at the backroom of the Woolpack greeting Alan, asking him if he is OK ; he turns and asks her the same ; Tricia replies by telling him that she is really busy with Marlons restaurant ; he confronts her with the magazine that he has found and tells her he knows all about her wedding plans - of course he thinks he does and so does she ; he tells her he doesn't approve of her choice meaning Marlon but will have to put up with it ; In the Woolpack Sean greets Angie with a kiss ; Angie is still miffed because he hasn't found any time to take off while she is on a week holiday ; Angie refers to Tara behind her with a snide remark of how Tara manages to take time off when she wants so why can't Sean ; Jack, Andy and Paddy are at the farm ; Paddy has come to visit some of Jack's animals that he has just bought a herd from in Devon ; it turns out that they may have TB ; so Paddy investigates ; Betty, Diane and Edna are sat at the bar in the Woolpack ; when Edna turns to Diane and starts to nosey and get information about Ashley and Bernice's wedding plans being called off ; Diane soon puts her in her place and tells her to mind her own business ; Sean and Angie are sat at a table in the Woolpack when they are joined by Tara and Virginia who are praising Sean to Angie about how much enthusiasm and energy he is putting into the stables ; she is not happy and turns to Sean with a look ; Cain enters the pub and looks over to Angie, her and Sean decide to leave ; as they are walking out she tells Cain that she is off duty and does not have to waste time on losers like him ; he replies by whispering to her unless you want to ; Sean tells him to push off and they leave ; Cain turns to Diane for a pint and Alan and Tricia enter the bar from the back ; Tricia is saying thank you to Alan for being understanding but he starts to get confused and says that Marlon should be grateful that his granddaughter is marrying him ; Tricia turns to him surprised and says she not marrying Marlon and has to then tell the truth behind the bar at the Woolpack where everybody can hear;

PART TWO - At the garage Frankie can't find anything wrong with Gloria's car so Scott tells her just to change the oil, plugs and filters and give it a valet ; Andy and Jack are in the kitchen discussing their problems and wondering when their luck is going to change what with Victoria and the animals ; Jack reassures Andy that things will be OK and Andy tells Jack that he loves him ; at the Woolpack Frankie and Zoe are discussing their days ; Zoe is feeling sorry for herself when Terry interrupts by telling her that Chris has been in a mood all day and that he was there if she needed anybody to talk to about Liam ; Seth, Cain and Tricia are at the bar, Seth is trying to tap a pint off Cain by telling him it is his birthday tomorrow but Cain isn't having it and tells him he may buy him a drink tomorrow but not to hold his breath ; Diane arrives at Jack's ; Jack needs to talk to someone about his problems with the animals ; they have a drink and chat ; he has money problems and Diane offers to help ; he refuses ; Andy over hears their conversation about the money and Jack tells Diane he thinks it could be the end of the farm ; Frankie and Zoe go to the bar to order drinks, Cain tells them about Seth's birthday so they but him a pint ; Eric and Gloria meet he gives her the insurance quote ; Zoe, Terry and Frankie organize a surprise party for Seth ; they tell Betty and tell her to keep it a secret ; Betty spreads the gossip about Tricia but they already know ; Frakie tells Zoe that she has been married before to an American guy ; Frankie thought that she had told Zoe but she hadn't ; Zoe is angry with her ; Alan and Marlon are in the kitchen of the Woolpack ; Alan is unhappy to hear the news about Joe ; Alan accuses Marlon of not caring or loving Tricia if he is going to let her go ahead with the marriage to Joe and tells him that he must only be letting her do it because he is so desperate to get the money for his restaurant ; Marlon assures him he is not happy with Tricia's decision but he will still love her and it will break his heart ;

Edna threatens to expose Tricia and Joe's marriage as a sham, but they manage to blackmail her into keeping quiet. Cain is stood up by Angie who proclaims she wants nothing more to do with him. A surprise birthday party for Seth results in an unexpected blunder.

PART ONE - Alan and Tricia are behind the bar at the Woolpack ; Alan is concerned as he and Marlon had words yesterday regarding Tricia and Joe's wedding ; Alan is trying to change Tricia's mind and offers her the money that they will give her if she doesn't go ahead with it ; but she tells him she won't go back on her word and is going ahead with it ; Edna confronts Jason and Joe outside the post office ; she makes her opinions quite clear about their marriage ; she threatens that she will be forced to go to the authorities as she disagrees with what they are doing ; Gloria turns up at the garage to collect her car, but it won't be finished for another 10 minutes ; meanwhile she pretends to look for her watch in the glovebox and assures Scott and Frankie that she definitely left it there when she dropped the car off ; Richie arrives home as he has left some papers ; Sarah is looking through the newspaper for jobs ; Sarah suggests to Richie that maybe he could ask Chris Tate if he has any work for her but he does not think that is such a good idea and says no ; at the garage Scott is looking everywhere for Gloria's watch ; Gloria is blaming Frankie for taking her watch as Lady Tara had some things missing when Frankie last did some work for her ; Gloria tells them she is going to the police ; Tricia, Joe and Jason are in the Woolpack and upset to hear they may not be able to go ahead with the wedding after Edna has threatened to shop them ; Cain joins Angie in the Woolpack and asks her where her husband is and says that a woman on her own in the pub can give off wrong signals ; Gloria interrupts and would like to report her stolen watch to Angie but she tells her that she is off duty and will have to ring the station ; Betty brings a suitcase over to Alan at the bar with some of Seth's things in for tonight's party ; Jason and Joe and Tricia are still wondering how they can get round their problem ; Gloria overhears and interrupts and tells them a story of Edna once breaking the law and how mortified she would be if her story got out ; Sarah arrives at Chris Tate's house, asking him if he had any work ; she implies that she needs work to support her children and that her and Richie may not always be together ; Chris tells her he does not have any work and she should work at her relationship with Richie ; in the village Andy and Robert are on the bus when Robert tells Andy that Richie has paid for his school trip ; Andy is upset and angry that Robert could betray Jack in this way and they have a fight on the bus ; Joe and Jason turn up at Edna's house to discuss and blackmail her into agreeing to their wedding ; if not they will tell everyone her secret which is that she smuggled Baetley into her luggage when she went to France ;

PART TWO - Kathy comes out the post office to find Robert stood outside ; she offers to walk home with him but he replies by saying he doesn't know where that is anymore ; they have a little chat about Jack and Sarah splitting up and how upset he must be, she offers him tea at her house ; at Edna's house Joe and Jason are not doing too good job of a job of persuading Edna not to tell the authorities about them ; at the Dingles Charity enters the room ; she's on her mobile arranging a date for tonight and then turns to Cain to ask him what's wrong with him and that she thinks he's pining for someone ; Charity goes to run a bath and tells Zak to watch for Cain spying through the keyhole ; at Edna's cottage Joe and Jason threaten to tell someone about her taking her dog illegally into France if she tells the authorities about Joe and Tricia's wedding ; at the farm Andy arrives home without Robert ; Jack is angry that they are late for their tea ; Andy starts to explain that he and Robert had a fight ; the telephone rings it's Kathy she tells Jack that Robert is with her, so Jack sets off and tells Andy to stay where he is ; in the Woolpack Betty and Seth arrive ; everybody shouts surprise and sings Happy Birthday to Seth ; he walks over to where they have laid out all his old pictures ; Alan hands him a pint ; Betty turns to his posters and notices that they say 75th birthday ; Jack arrives at Kathy's house and starts to tell Robert that he has had enough and to get in the car ; Robert tells Jack he does not want to so Kathy lets him stay the night at hers ; at the Woolpack Seth is playing on his piano ; Frankie and Zoe are still discussing Frankie getting married all those years ago ; Charity is at Chris Tate's house drinking expensive wine ; they discuss their money arrangements ; Charity believes that she is just another one of his employees on his payroll but he assures her she isn't and kisses her ; at the Woolpack Frankie and Scott discuss what could have happened to Gloria's watch ; Scott more or less accuses Frankie of taking it but she tells him to get lost and walks off ; Joe and Jason come back from Edna's to tell Tricia the good news ; Tricia shouts Marlon over to tell him the good news but he is not impressed ; Betty checks with Seth how old he is ; he remembered that he is only 74 and that he will tell everyone else tomorrow ; Tricia asks Joe his last name as she has never asked him before ; he tell her it's Fisher and she repeats it to herself and in a second is mortified because she says she can't be called Fisher ; she will never live it down being called Tricia Fisher ;

After Sarah leaves Victoria in Ritchie's care, she is mortified to discover her wandering the streets alone. Already unsure of her relationship with Ritchie, this puts the final nail in the coffin.

PART ONE - Diane and Jack are shouting about what happened last night with Victoria being left on her own, Diane says she is on his side but he needs to sort himself out or he won't even be allowed visiting rights, Jack gets angry with Diane and tells her to leave, she says what if she won't, will he smash her against the wall and threaten to kill her; Sarah is very angry with Richie for leaving Victoria on her own, she thinks she will lose residency of Victoria if social services find out, Richie says he knows what he did was wrong, Richie is more worried about Jack threatening to kill them both, Sarah says she thinks Jack was right, she is a stupid silly cow who's gone off with a young boy who's not even fit to do a spot of babysitting, Sarah screams that she doesn't know what she 's doing here, the phone rings, it's Chris, he wants Richie to go straight over, Richie says that Jack is right that she can be a bitch, Sarah tells him to get lost, Richie leaves; Jack has calmed down, Diane has made him a cup of tea, Jack says he didn't get any sleep as he was up all night looking at the books for the farm, he says it doesn't matter how much work he puts in the farm just isn't viable any more and that the best thing for it would be for someone to drop a bomb on it because at least then he'd get the insurance money, Andy overhears everything Jack and Diane are saying, Andy overhears Jack saying that this place is worth more on paper than it is as a working farm, Diane thinks things will seem better once he's had some rest, Jack says he'll die if he stops farming, Jack looks like he's about to cry, Diane hugs Jack, Jack apologises for shouting at her, Jack says he's scared, he doesn't mean to lose control but sometimes he feels things closing in on him and if the pressure doesn't stop soon he thinks he could do something really terrible, Andy overhears all of this; Angie tells Sarah she could lodge a complaint against Jack for his behaviour last night, Sarah says she doesn't want to, Sarah tells Angie that her and Richie have had a terrible row, Sarah says she can't stay here, Angie tries to convince Sarah not to go back to Jack, Sarah says she destroyed everything that ever meant anything to her, Sarah says she owes it to the kids and to herself to give things another go with Jack; Jack goes into the barn and gets a petrol can out to fill up his quad bike, Jack tells Andy he should be at school because there's no future in farming, Andy tries to be positive and tells Jack that something will come up, Jack is filling up the quad bike and spills petrol everywhere when Andy keeps pestering him, Jack wants him to leave him alone, Andy puts the cap back on the petrol can for Jack; Chris is explaining his problem with his computer to Richie, Richie is in a world of his own, Chris says he needs to keep his mind on the job if he wants Chris to continue to finance his business; Angie answers her door, it's Sarah and Victoria, Sarah asks Angie if she can look after Victoria for a while, Sarah wants to go up to the farm to talk to Jack, Sarah says she is going to tell him that she's sorry and that she was wrong, Sarah thinks Jack will respect her for that, Victoria doesn't want to kiss her mum goodbye; Bernice wants to know what's bothering Diane, Diane doesn't want to tell her, Bernice guesses that Diane is involved with Jack, Bernice figures out that Diane is in love with Jack;

PART TWO - Angie receives a phone call from Richie, Richie has come home to find Sarah not there and he wonders where she is, Richie hears Victoria's voice in the background and pushes Angie to tell him where Sarah is, Angie won't tell him but Richie guesses where Sarah has gone, he slams the phone down; Andy goes into the barn, switches on the light and searches for a petrol can, he finds it and is about to unscrew it when Jack calls him for his tea, Andy puts the petrol can back where he found it and switches off the light; Sarah is walking along the road to Jack's, Richie drives up and tries to talk to her through the car window, Richie asks her what she's doing, Sarah tells him to go home, Richie apologises for what he said this morning, Richie stops the car and gets out, Sarah tells Richie she's going to see Jack, Richie asks her if she's leaving him but she doesn't reply, Sarah walks off and Richie follows her; Robert is packing to leave Kathy's, Kathy says he can stay longer if he wants but Robert says he may aswell go now because Sarah and Jack aren't going to get back together after last night; Andy and Jack are eating dinner, Jack hasn't touched his, Andy tries to persuade Jack to go down to the Woolpack for a while but Jack says he didn't get much sleep last night so he thinks he'll stay in and watch tv; Richie is still following Sarah, they have arrived at Jack's, Richie is gettting more and more upset, Sarah agrees to talk to him, Richie wants to go back to the house but Sarah says no, they go into the barn; Andy sees that Jack has fallen asleep on the sofa; Sarah and Richie are in the barn talking, Richie tells Sarah he loves her, Sarah says she doesn't love him anymore; Andy rummages through Jack's coat to find a pair of gloves, he puts his coat on; Sarah is trying to comfort Richie, she says she should never have left Jack; Andy is going through the drawers trying to find some matches and a torch; Richie is crying, he says he'll do anything, Sarah says it's over, Sarah admits that she did love him once; Andy leaves the house and sets off for the barn; Sarah hears footsteps and thinks it's Jack, she panics, she doesn't want Jack to find her there with Richie, Sarah says that once Jack has gone she will go and see Jack and then she'll come home and pack her things and they can talk, Sarah leads Richie up into the hay loft, they hide behind some hay bales; Andy comes into the barn and picks up the petrol can, he opens it and starts to pour it all over the barn; Sarah and Richie wonder what he's doing, they can smell petrol; Andy continues to pur petrol and then lights a match singeing Jack's glove; Sarah and Richie wonder what's going on, then they see the flames; Andy runs back inside the house throwing his gloves off behind a wall; Sarah and Richie are starting to panic, the flames are getting nearer, Richie goes down the ladder and tries to get Sarah to jump down, she won't, there is a big bang and Richie falls to the floor, Sarah screams; Jack wakes up, he goes outside to find the barn on fire; Richie is still trying to persuade Sarah to jump, she says she can't; Robert arrives back at the farm and runs straight over to Jack , Andy comes out of the house, Jack hears a scream and realises there is someone in the barn, Robert goes off to call 999 but just then Richie comes out of the barn coughing, Richie tells jack that Sarah is in the barn, Richie wants to go back in to save her but Jack tells him not to, that he will go instead, Richie lies choking on the floor while Jack goes inside to rescue Sarah, he puts his coat over his head and goes into the barn, Andy can only stand outside and look horrified at what he's done, Richie dials 999 but can't breathe or talk to the operator, Jack comes out of the barn without Sarah, he's choking and falls to the ground, the barn explodes, Andy stands up and puts his hands to his face looking at the burning barn;

Accusations fly in the aftermath of the fire and with Sarah dead and Ritchie lying injured in hospital. Andy continues to conceal the awful truth but it can only be a matter of him before someone works out that he was responsible. Meanwhile Viv is surprised by a blast from the past.

PART ONE - Robert and Andy are in the hospital waiting room, the doctor says to the policeman to see if they have any family that he can contact because the boys are going to need somebody; Jack is in a hospital bed coughing; Richie is crying in his hospital bed, he frantically presses his call button; in the Woolpack, Diane is asking Bernice is she has heard anything from Rodney, Bernice asks her why the sudden interest; Jonny finds out that Marc has slept with Donna; Bernice tells Carlos that she is still in contact with Rodney but she doesn't want to tell Diane, she talks to Carlos about how having a half-sister changes everything; the doctor comes in to see Jack, Jack knows that Sarah is dead, no-one has told the boys yet, the doctor tells Jack that Kathy is on her way over and that she can tell the boys, Jack says no because he wants to tell them, he cries; Robert and Andy want to know what's going on, Richie comes into the waiting room, he wants to find out what happened to Sarah, Andy starts to cry when Robert says all this is Richie's fault; Terry comes round to the Sugden's, he finds the police in Jack's kitchen, he said he was passing and saw the smoke and wanted to find out if everything was ok, Terry asks the policeman where Jack and the kids are, he says they have been taken to Hotten General and that's all he can tell him at the moment; Kathy arrives at the hospital, the doctor asks to have a word with her, she tells Kathy that Sarah has died; Terry comes into the Woolpack, he tells everyone that there has been a fire at the Sugden's, Diane and Terry go off to the hospital to find out what has happened, Terry says he's already been round to Sarah's but there is no-one in; Kathy and the boys go into see Jack, Jack tells them that they have to be very brave, Andy and Robert sit down, Jack starts to cry, Robert starts to cry, he asks what has happened to Sarah, Jack says he tried to save her but he couldn't, Robert and Andy cry, Andy runs out;

PART TWO - Andy is crying, Kathy runs to comfort him, Andy says Sarah shouldn't have been in there; Bernice should have called last orders but she says she'll stay open a little bit longer to see if there's any news, Carol, an old friend of Viv's arrives in the pub looking for her, Viv and Carol hug; the doctor asks Kathy if she will tell Richie about Sarah, Diane appears and Kathy tells her that Sarah is dead, Diane asks Kathy what happened, Diane volunteers to tell Richie; Diane goes into Richie's hospital room, Richie keeps asking about Sarah, Diane tells him that Sarah died in the fire, Richie cries, Diane asks Richie how it happened, Richie says that it was Jack; Carol and Viv are drinking champagne, Carol says she's on the run from her husband, Gordon, he had found her in bed with his best friend, Carol says he was depressed and was trying to cheer him up, Carol said she tried to explain that it was only a one-off but it all turned nasty so she packed up the Mercedes and left, she says she going to teach him a lesson and make him sweat for a couple of days, Carol tells Viv she would be really jealous of her house; Diane hugs Robert and Andy, Kathy tells Diane she will take them home with her, Diane asks Kathy how Jack is, Diane tells the boys if they need anything they know where she is, Andy tells Diane to look after Jack; Diane goes in to see Jack, Diane tells Jack how sorry she is, Jack can't fathom out what Sarah was doing in the barn, Diane asks Jack what happened, Jack said there was nothing he could do; Alan and Bernice think Diane would have phoned by now if something had been wrong, Alan asks Bernice if there is something going on between Jack and Diane, Bernice plays dumb, Bernice tells Alan that Diane loves a bit of drama; Carol and Viv are still drinking champagne, Viv tells Carol she gave up cigarrettes ages ago, Carol thinks she needs a makeover, she thinks viv's hairdo is very ageing, Viv tells Carol about Bob, she makes up lots of stuff about how Bob is in the fashion industry; Betty thinks Carol looks like a right slapper; the phone rings, Alan goes to answer it, Alan comes back into the Woolpack, he asks for everyones attention, it was Kathy on the phone, Alan has some sad news, Carol makes a joke about running out of champagne, Alan says that Sarah Sugden died earlier this evening, everyone is shocked; Carol asks Viv who Sarah was, Viv explains; Diane is still pressing Jack for information on how the fire happened, he says he doesn't know anything, Diane asks Jack what Richie and Sarah were doing in the barn, Jack has no idea, Diane thinks it seems odd, Jack asks Diane how he is going to tell Victoria, Jack blames Richie for everything, Diane leaves; Diane bumps into Richie outside Jack's room, Diane tells Richie it was just an accident, Richie says it was no accident, someone set fire to the barn, Richie says he knows it was Jack; Kathy is tucking the boys up in bed, she wishes them goodnight, Andy cries;

PART ONE - DC Brundel and DCI Harvey are in the Sugden's kitchen, DC Brundel says that according to forensics the fire was started deliberately with petrol outside the barn, they think it was an amateur job but aren't sure whether it was Richie or Jack who started the fire; Richie's mum has come to visit him in hospital, even though they haven't always got on in the past she says she does worry about him because he's the only son she's got, Richie's mum is horrified to hear that Richie was living with a 48 year old married woman; Jack is on the phone to Kathy asking if Victoria is alright, Jack says he wants her to bring Victoria to him so he can tell her about Sarah himself; Viv is mulling over Sarah dying, she remembers that Vic was only 40 when he died, Carol is more worried that there is no proper coffee or a juicer, Carol says she doesn't like slumming it, Viv asks Carol how long she's planning on staying for, Viv doesn't look overjoyed when Carol says lets just see how it goes; Richie is still trying to explain to his mum how he got involved with Sarah, his mum thinks he is just a kid, Richie says he left home when he was 16, Richie says he's old enough to know what he's doing, Richie's mum says just wait until she tells his father about this, Richie says that he's not his Dad, he's just her husband and he couldn't care less what he thinks; Bernice tells Carlos that someone called Jennifer called for him and that she sounded very keen to track him down, Carlos surprises Bernice by saying that next time she calls Bernice should say he isn't in, he doesn't explain why, Ashley thinks she must be an ex-girlfriend, Turner comes in looking for Diane, he looks disappointed when Bernice tells him she's gone up to the hospital; at the hospital the doctor is telling the police that neither Richie nor Jack are up to being questioned at the moment, the police spot Kathy arriving at the hospital with Andy, Robert and Victoria, DCI Harvey stops them and asks them if he can have a word, Andy looks scared; Carol and Viv are in the shop, Carol says she can't imagine working, Carol asks Viv if there's anything going on in the area, Viv tells Carol that the Tates are good friends of hers and they are very rich, Viv also tells Carol that her shop is a goldmine although Carol is dubious as she hasn't had a customer all morning, Carol introduces herself to Ashley, Carol tells Ashley that her and Viv met when they worked in Selfridges as instore demonstrators; Kathy and the kids are visiting Jack, Kathy had told the police that they will have to wait before they question the boys, Victoria asks where her mum is, she asks if her mum is never coming back;

PART TWO - Harvey and Brundel are talking about the boys, Diane arrives at the hospital, Kathy asks Diane to take Victoria home with her because the police want to question the boys, Harvey asks Kathy who she was, Kathy says Diane is a friend of the family, Robert goes off first to be questioned by DCI Harvey, Andy is left with Brundel, Brundel tells him not to be nervous, that he's not on trial, Andy looks terrified; Robert tells Harvey that when he arrived the barn was already on fire and that Jack was standing outside looking shocked, Robert said he ran towards the house to call 999 and he saw Andy coming out of the house, then he saw Richie coming from the barn, Richie said that his mum was in there; Bernice has taken another phone call from Jennifer, Carlos gets annoyed and tells Bernice he won't take the call; Diane arrives back with Victoria, Turner asks Carol if she has any children, Carol says no; Harvey is interviewing Andy, Andy says he was in his bedroom when the fire started, he says he heard a bang and then he went outside and he saw Robert and Jack, Andy starts to cry, he says he can't remember, kathy intervenes and asks for the questioning to stop; Robert is telling Jack that the police think it was arson, Jack is puzzled that no-one has talked to him yet, Robert asks Jack if he thinks it was Richie that started the fire, Robert can't figure out what Richie was doing there, neither can Jack; Diane is looking after Victoria, she has just gone to sleep, Diane tells Turner she thinks that Victoria knows what has happened but doesn't properly understand, Diane is upset, she thinks it's a mother's worst nightmare to die and leave her kids, Diane tells Alan she thinks he's a lovely man, Turner asks if there's anything going on between her and Jack, Diane lies and says that they are just good friends; Richie apologises to his mum, she apologises for flying off the handle, Jack storms into Richie's hospital room and accuses him of starting the fire, Jack puts his hands around Richie's neck, Richie's mum tries to pull Jack off Richie, Jack says Richie won't get away with it, he'll see him dead first, DCI Harvey comes in and grabs Jack off Richie; Bernice tells Carlos that Jennifer phoned again, Carlos says she's someone he'd rather forget, he just wants to drop the subjet, Bernice says she's seen a different side to him today; Carol joins Ashley in the pub, she tells him about her fancy house in Essex, she scares him and he makes his excuses and leaves; Harvey and Brundel are questioning Richie, Richie says the barn just went up and Sarah got trapped behind the flames, there was too much smoke and he couldn't get to her, Richie cries, Richie thinks it was weird because then he tried to go back in to the barn to get Sarah but Jack wouldn't let him, Richie says that Jack threw him to the floor and went into the barn, Richie says he knows why Jack went back into the barn, it was to make sure Sarah was dead, Richie says he saw Jack light the fire, Harvey wants to make sure he definitely saw Jack light the fire and not just heard someone light the fire, Richie says he is positive he saw Jack light the fire; Viv is yawning when Donna comes back from school, Carol arrives back in the shop, Carol says the last time she saw Donna she was really small, Carol has brought champagne, Donna doesn't look overjoyed and wants to know how long Carol is staying for; Harvey believes that Jack started the fire, he is the only one with enough motive, Harvey says they just have to prove it; Bernice tells Alan she thinks there's something strange about Jennifer, she thinks Carlos is being very rude about her and has changed her opinion of him, she used to think he was a gentleman but not anymore, Alan doesn't think she should prejudge without knowing all the facts; Kathy arrives in the pub to pick up Victoria, Kathy tells Alan that the boys were questioned by the police and that the police think it was arson; Harvey and Brundel arrive to question Jack, Harvey tells Jack they know it was arson, Harvey cautions Jack;

PART ONE - Brundel and Harvey are at Terry's asking him how well he knew Jack and Sarah, Terry says he has known them for years, he used to manage the pub and knew them as they were regulars, Harvey wonders why he was at the scene of the crime so soon after it happened, Terry explains that he was passing and saw smoke and thought he should investigate to see if everything was alright, Harvey asks him what he thought of Sarah and her relationship with Richie, Terry says it was none of his business but that he thinks Sarah made a mistake, they ask Terry if he was in the pub when Jack threatened to kill Sarah, Terry says he was, Terry tries to defend Jack saying that he didn't mean it literally and that Jack was just angry, Terry said he and Sgt Reynolds tried to hold Jack back, Terry said that Diane managed to calm Jack down; Donna is annoyed because she can't get in the bathroom, Carol is in there, Viv has a hangover, Carol wants to go shopping in Leeds at Gordon's expense; the police question Diane, she says that Sarah really did seem to love Richie because she left her kids for him, the police ask her about Jack's outburst in the pub and how Diane managed to calm him down, Diane said she just told Jack that it wouldn't solve anything behaving like that, Brundel asks her about Jack's financial situation, Diane says he's a farmer so he's hardly rich, Diane said that Jack once said to her that the farm was worth more on paper, Diane gets annoyed when the police suggest that Jack killed two birds with one stone by burning down the barn, he got Sarah out of the way and could claim the insurance money for the barn, Diane doesn't think Jack is capable of murder; Jennifer appears in the pub, Carlos isn't pleased to see her, Jennifer had been trying to find him for months, Carlos wants to know how she managed to find him, Jennifer wants to talk to him, she says Carlos left without saying a word, she doesn't think it was fair, Carlos says he did what he thought was best for him, Jennifer says that he really hurt him, Carlos doesn't believe her but agrees to sit down and talk to her, Bernice watches disapprovingly; Jack is leaving hospital, he tells Victoria he's coming home for good, Richie and his mum bump into Jack and his family in the hopital corridor, it is tense but neither of them say anything, Brundel arrives to ask Jack to accompany him to the station, they have a few more questions to ask him; Carlos is back from his talk with Jennifer, Bernice wants to know about Jennifer but Carlos wants to keep his personal life to himself, Bernice hopes Carlos was a bit nicer to her before she went, Carlos says she hasn't gone anywhere, Bernice says that at least that is something and walks out leaving Carlos with his head in his hands; Jack is being questioned at the police station, Jack says he was asleep downstairs on the sofa immediately before the fire, the police suggest that instead of slogging his guts out for little or no return some people would take the easy way out, Jack realises that they think he burnt the barn down for the insurance money, Jack said he would never do that, Harvey then asks about Jack threatening Sarah in the pub the day before the fire, Jack remembers that he said he could kill her for what she did to his family;

PART TWO - Brundel asks Jack if he has anything to say about the petrol that was found on his clothes, Jack says he had been refuelling his quad bike that day, Jack denies burning down the barn, he puts his head in his hands and cries, Jack denies killing Sarah; Viv and Carol return from shopping, they decide to have some champagne to celebrate, Viv says she could get used to having Carol around, Carol thinks they should take the pub by storm tonight, they giggle; Richie and his mum are at home, she thinks he's done alright for himself, there is a knock at the door, it's Scott, Richie introduces them, Scott says he's sorry about what happened; Diane is telling everyone about what the police asked her, Diane says she may be wrong but she thinks the police suspect him of arson, Terry says he was asked the same kind of questions, Viv and Carol appear in the Woolpack all glammed up, Carol meets Terry, Carol takes quite a shine to him, Viv tries to put her off by telling her that he's never been one for blondes; Scott tells Richie how sorry he is, he says if Richie needs some company temporarily Scott will move in, Richie says that would be great; Diane is telling Turner what a shock it is that the police could think Jack did it, Turner offers to take her mind of things by taking her out for dinner but Diane turns him down, she doesn't think she'd be good company; Viv and Carol are giggling and eating dinner in the Woolpack, Betty looks on disapprovingly, she thinks they're common as muck; Bernice fishes for information about Jennifer from Terry, Terry says he's never mentioned any girls before, he knows nothing about Jennifer; Carol orders another bottle of champagne, Carol asks Viv if Terry's spoken for, Viv tells Carol that Terry is still completely obsessed with her, Carol calls him over and asks him to join them, Carol says she's heard all about him, Viv has told her that Terry used to be a top rugby star and that now he advises a millionaire, Terry looks a bit surprised but when Carol goes to the toilet Viv tells Terry to go along with the pretense as Carol will only be around for a couple more days; Harvey and Brundel come back into the interview room, they tell him he is free to go; Kathy arrives home with the kids, Andy is worried that Jack won't be coming home, Kathy says there's no point in worrying as Jack hasn't done anything wrong; Carol is fondling Terry's legs, Betty disapproves, Carol suggests they go back to Viv's to carry on the night there, Terry agrees to go too much to Viv's annoyance; Jack arrives home and Robert rushes over to hug him, Jack says everything is fine, Andy is worried that they will take Jack away again, Jack reassures him; Carol and Terry are sitting close together on the sofa, Viv is getting really annoyed, she wants Terry to go, Viv is horrified when Carol takes Terry up to bed with her;

After Jennifer is given the brush off by Carlos, Bernise begins to make a move on him. She later confronts Diane, worried that her ardent defence of Jack will only serve to highlight Diane's secret affair with him. PART ONE - Terry comes downstairs after having spent the night with Carol, Viv is curt with him, Viv isn't pleased that he stayed over, Terry apologises and says he was a bit drunk, Viv is worried that Terry will have let the cat out of the bag and will have admitted to Carol that he is not lord of the manor as Viv had told her, Viv says that Carol will be gone in a couple of days and that she just wants to make a good impression while she is around; Jack comes home, the boys had been worried about where he was, they have been off school, Robert says he wouldn't be able to concentrate on lessons anyway, Robert cries, Jack says the only thing they can do is to move forward, Kathy comes in with Victoria, Kathy asks Robert if he's ok, Andy thanks Kathy for looking after them, Kathy says she'll be there for as long as they need her; Terry is trying to work out how to use the coffee machine, Donna comes downstairs, she is horrified to see Terry walking round in his underpants, Viv apologises to Donna for all the noise last night, Donna says she's getting used to it, Viv says that Terry stayed over but that nothing happened, Donna thought she was supposed to be upset about Bob, she walks off, Viv blames Carol for everything; Jennifer walks into the Woolpack, she asks Bernice if Carlos is around, Bernice thought she was staying with Carlos, Jennifer said she stayed at the B & B, Bernice asks if she's ok, Jennifer says she will be once she's talked to Carlos; Carol comes into the shop, Viv is short with her too, Carol starts talking about how wonderful Terry is, Viv tells her that Terry said this morning that it was only a bit of fun, Carol asks Viv if she's done something to offend her, Viv says some things never change, Carol always stole her men, Carol and Viv argue about all the men Carol has stolen off her over the years, Carol says she doesn't want to fall out, they are mates and always will be, Carol and Viv make up; Robert asks Jack when Sarah's funeral will be, Jack says it might be a while because the police have to look into what happened, Andy cries, Andy says he's sorry; Betty and Carol have a go at each other in the shop, Viv tells her that Betty is one of her best customers, Carol makes a joke about how £12 is hardly a lot, Viv asks Carol how long she is planning on staying, Carol avoids the question and offers to take Viv out for a meal, Carol promises to behave; Ashley tells Carlos he is thinking of organising a village event for Christmas to bring everyone together, Bernice calls Carlos away as Jennifer walks into the pub, Carlos thought she had left already, Jennifer says she thought Carlos might have calmed down, Jennifer says she doesn't want them to throw it all away, Carlos gets angry and shouts that there is nothing to throw away, they had been together 3 years, they were going to get married, Carlos says he told her 9 months ago that there is no future for them, Carlos says he's happy being single, he tells her to go away, Bernice looks worried;

PART TWO - Bernice shows Jennifer in and offers her some sympathy, Bernice can't believe that Jennifer has come all this way and Carlos doesn't have the decency to be nice to her, Jennifer says that Carlos walked out on her in February, they fell in love after a few weeks in 1997, Jennifer says that Carlos is the most perfect man she's ever met, Jennifer says she threw everything away on a moment of weakness, Bernice is confused, she thought Carlos had abandoned her, Jennifer says she works in a bar and a new guy started at the bar, she slept with him once, Carlos walked in on her and Stephen, Bernice says Carlos has made a new life for himself here and she thinks the best thing Jennifer can do is to get on the next bus back home; Donna has come round to see Marc, Donna says she doesn't want to go home, Donna tells him about Carol and that Terry stayed over last night; Carol and Viv are in the pub having dinner and champagne, Betty moans to Bernice and Alan about Carol and champagne corks popping, Terry walks in and Terry and Carol smile at each other; Bernice tells Alan she got it all wrong about Carlos, Bernice says she feels awful that she's been ignoring Carlos, Alan suggests that she apologise to him; Betty moans about Carol and how disgusting it is that she is having liqueurs with her main course; Carol and Terry give each other flirty looks, Betty tuts; Jonny comes round to see Marc, Jonny makes jokes about how he must have interrupted them at it, Donna can't believe Marc told him that they slept together, she storms off, Marc makes some comment about women, Jonny laughs; Carol pays with her gold card, Carol apologises to Terry for not inviting him to join them, she wanted to spend a bit of time with Viv; Ashley asks Bernice if she thinks Carlos is alright, Ashley thinks it's a bit strange because Carlos never talks about his own problems while he is always happy to help with their problems, Bernice says she will talk to him; Alan tells Carol that her card has been refused, Carol doesn't have any cash, they owe £112, Betty enjoys the fact that Carol can't pay, Viv writes Alan a cheque, Carol thinks Gordon must have cancelled the card; Diane wants to talk to Jack, she confronts him about what he said about making a claim on the insurance, Jack denies setting fire to the barn, Jack is horrified that Diane could suggest such a thing, he states that he did not kill his wife; Carol is on the phone to Gordon, they argue, Gordon has cancelled the card, Carol says she is not going back to Gordon, Carol says she'll have to stay with Viv; Bernice talks to Carlos, she apologises for assuming that he had done the dirty on her, Carlos explains how hurt he was, Bernice explains what happened with her first husband Tony; Jack swears to Diane that he did not start the fire, Jack says he thinks it must have been Richie, how else does it explain what they were doing in the barn, Jack thinks he wanted to get rid of Sarah, Diane is shocked; Bernice asks Carlos why he has never confided in anyone, Carlos wonders why Bernice never told him about Gavin or Tony, Carlos says he was hurt so much that he hasn't been able to trust another woman since, Bernice goes to kiss Carlos, he stops her, she tries to explain but he leaves;

Richie continues to imply Jack was responsible for the fire and Jack is left devastated after it is revealed that Sarah was on her way to ask him to take her back before she was killed. Meanwhile Carlos hatches a plan to bring Bernice and Ashley back together.

PART ONE - Terry is moaning at Carlos for banging about all night, Carlos apologises, he says he was trying to get the treasure hunt organised, Carlos asks Terry if he can arrange not to be in tonight, Terry thinks he's planning a romantic evening; Carol can't believe Gordon has cut off her credit cards, Viv reluctantly agrees to let her stay a bit longer, Carol says she'll ring Agnes her cleaning lady to try and get some more of her stuff sent up, Donna isn't thrilled when she hears Carol is going to be staying a bit longer; Brundel and Harvey are interviewing Richie, Brundel asks why he parked his car so far down the lane, he thinks it was so no-one would see him, Richie explains that he had a row with Sarah and she wouldn't get in the car to talk to him so he got out and talk to her, Richie says the row was about her wanting to go back to Jack, Richie said they just ended up in the barn, Richie wanted to avoid Jack, he wanted to stop Sarah from going back to Jack because he loved her; Carlos talks to Ashley about a treasure hunt for the village, Carlos says he's organised it all but he needs some people to test it on first, he tells Ashley to meet him in the Woolpack at 2.30; Marc goes to meet Donna as she's about to get on the school bus, Donna is angry with Marc for telling Jonny that they slept together, she tells him they are finished; Richie tells them that they heard someone skulking around in the barn, the last thing they wanted was for Jack to find them in the barn, the next thing he remembers is there being a big explosion, Richie says Jack went in to find Sarah and seemed to take ages, Richie thinks he was finishing the job off; Ashley is about to ask Bernice if she has agreed to take part in the treasure hunt but she interrupts him to say that Carlos has already asked her and she has reluctantly agreed; Terry comes into the shop, Carol asks Terry if he can take him into Hotten to take her shopping, Terry thinks she means just as a driver but she says as more than that; Kathy has come round to the Sugden's, Jack has to go to the police station and there are a few things that need sorting first, Jack can't understand what they were doing in the barn, Jack wonders if Richie was setting him up, Kathy tells Jack how useless she feels, Jack tells Kathy that he misses Sarah, he says everyone seems to forget how much he loved her;

PART TWO - Carlos is explaining how the treasure hunt works, Ashley has to go with Diane, Alan goes with Bernice, Bernice isn't enthusiastic at all, Carlos leaves them to it; Jonny thinks Marc is well shot of Donna, Jonny says there are loads of girls out there so why stick to one; Diane is puzzling over her tresure hunt clue, Ashley apologises to Diane for contacting Rodney, he thinks Sarah's death puts his and Bernice's relationship problems into perspective; Jack is at the police station, Brundel surprises Jack by telling him that Sarah was talking of leaving Richie and coming back to him, Harvey asks Jack to explain his relationship with Diane; Ashley and Diane go off to the cricket pavillion for their next clue, Alan asks Bernice what he thinks of him and Diane as a couple, Bernice tells him to ask Diane about that; Viv is drinking a bottle of wine, Donna is pleased that Carol has gone out, Donna tells Viv she has finished with Marc, Viv says she's better off without him, Viv says they can have a girlie night in to cheer her up; Bernice and Alan turn up at Betty's to collect their next clue, Alan and Bernice get separate clues; Carlos has prepared a meal and is dancing round the table while he is laying the table; Robert asks Jack what the police said, Jack says that he found out that Sarah was leaving Richie and coming back to Jack and the family, Andy can't bear it and shouts for them to shut up; Alan and Diane come stumbling back, Carlos has prepared a meal for them both; Bernice arrives at Annie's cottage, she finds the table laid for dinner; Jonny and Marc are in the bus shelter, Ashley is on top of the bus shelter; Ashley walks in the door of Annie's cottage, Bernice and Ashley realise they've been set up, Bernice laughs about Ashley being on top of the bus shelter, Carlos is watching from outside and toasts to them, Ashley and Bernice agree it would be wrong to waste all the food and sit down for the meal, Ashley opens an envelope left on the table, it is a wedding invitation to their wedding, Ashley and Bernice kiss;

PART ONE - Andy is looking at the burnt barn, Jack comes out of the house to find Andy staring at the barn, Jack wraps his coat round Andy and takes him inside; Andy says it should have been him in there; Bernice and Ashley are in bed, Bernice says that she quite likes her dad and that she might even invite him to the wedding, Ashley puts the ring back on Bernice's finger and they kiss, Ashley wonders if Carlos has managed to get Alan and Diane together too; Alan and Diane are having breakfast, Alan wonders why Diane turned him down, he asks her if there is anyone else, Diane tells Alan about her and Jack being an item, Alan feels like he's made a fool of himself; at the Dingles Lisa is having a hard time being a working mother, Zak wonders if something is wrong with Lisa, she looks a bit tired, she shouts that there is nothing wrong and that he should leave her alone; Diane tries to explain to Alan that she does like him when she is interrupted by Bernice and Ashley who have come to tell them that the engagement is back on again, Ashley presumes that Alan and Diane are feeling as romantic as he and Bernice are and makes some comments about detecting more wedding bells in the air, Diane has to tell him he's got it all wrong, Alan feels very uncomfortable and leaves the room; Robert can't bear the atmosphere in the house and gets up to leave, Jack tries to stop him and tells he if he goes out he should prepare himself for people asking lots of questions, Robert sits back down and tells Jack he doesn't really like going out anyway because he has to see the barn, Robert goes out for a walk but tells Jack sarcastically that he won't go near the village or any people; Zak and Cain are reading the mail, Cain says the DSS have stopped his money, Lisa tells Cain he has to get a job and get some money, she shouts that she'll never be able to give up work because she is the only one bringing in any money; Carlos is showing Terry what he has made for his meal with Carol, Carlos explains what Terry has to do to finish off cooking it, Terry hasn't quite grasped what he has to do, Carlos has written him out an idiots guide, Carlos wishes him luck; Robert is in the village, Kathy sees him throw a stone through Richie's window, Richie comes out and Robert starts to punch Richie, Robert shouts that Richie killed his mum, Richie says that he loved Sarah, Robert says that Sarah was coming back to Jack and that's why Richie killed her, Scott intervenes and says that Robert should be careful hurling accusions around like that without proof, Kathy tries to restrain Robert, Robert says he doesn't need proof he knows that Richie killed her; Bernice and Ashley thank Carlos for getting them back together, Bernice tells Carlos that he is a very special kind of man; Brundel and Harvey come into the pub, they want to ask Bernice and Carlos about the night Jack threatened to kill Sarah in the Woolpack; Robert is back at the Sugden's, Jack tells Robert that they don't know that Richie killed Sarah they only think that he did, Jack tells him that he can't go around hitting people, Andy remains quiet through all of this, Robert keeps going on about how Richie killed Sarah, Andy tries to interrupt when Diane walks in, Andy looks like he's going to tell Jack something, Robert and Andy both leave, Jack is angry with Diane because he thinks she has told the police about them, Jack breaks down and starts to cry, Jack doesn't know who who's on his side anymore, Diane comforts him and says that she's on his side, Diane tells him she loves him, Jack says this is not what he needs right now, Jack tells her to leave it for a bit, Andy walks in to see Jack crying with his head in his hands;

PART TWO - Andy tells Jack it was him that did it, that he killed Sarah; Terry is attempting to start cooking dinner for Carol, he has to keep looking in the fridge for Carlos's instructions on how to cook the dinner, Carol asks Terry who he played for when he played rugby, he played for Farsley; Alan is telling Bernice about Diane's heart being with Jack, Bernice lets on that she knew about Diane and Jack all along, Alan says how they must have laughed at him behind his back, Bernice tells him that they both care for him very much; Diane tells Bernice that she told Jack how she felt about him and that he doesn't want to see her any more and that Alan doesn't either, Bernice tries to comfort her, Diane says Alan's her best friend and she loves Jack and now she's lost them both; Andy tells Jack that he burnt the barn for the money, he wanted to help Jack because he knew he had no money, Andy says he didn't know Sarah was in there, Andy says Sarah is the reason he is with the family, Andy thinks he's bad luck, he shouldn't be there, ever since he came to stay with them everything has gone wrong, he says he's bad, he has he's got bad blood in him from his dad, Jack says no and hugs him, Jack asks where the clothes Andy was wearing are; Emily comes home to find Lisa in tears, Lisa tells Emily she thinks she might be pregnant, Emily thinks it's wonderful news, Lisa says it wasn't planned, she doesn't know how they will cope because she is the only breadwinner, Emily says she can have all her wages if she wants, Lisa says she's a good girl but that she can keep her wages, Lisa says it's not even certain that she is pregnant yet; Jack and Andy are burning Andy's clothes, Jack says to Andy that he should go and get all his underwear and they'll burn that too in case there are traces of petrol anywhere; Terry and Carol are eating their creme brulee, Carol realises that Terry has been telling her lies, Terry tells her the truth about everything, that he isn't a millionaire and that he only played third division rugby, Carol doesn't seem to mind and leads him upstairs; Jack is outside scrubbing Andy clean, Andy and Jack are both crying, Jack says he'll remove every trace of it, they'll never find out, Jack says he won't lose Andy too;

Jack's birthday celebrations come to an abrupt end when the police arrest him on suspicion of murder. Lisa breaks the news to Zak that's she is pregnant and he is delighted.

PART ONE - Jack is raking the ashes from the bonfire they had the previous night to burn Andy's clothes, Andy comes out in his pyjamas, Jack makes Andy promise that he must never tell anyone that he started the fire, Jack says it was only a terrible mistake and because of his history it might jeopardise him being able to stay with Jack and the family, Jack tells him that he must not tell Robert, Andy thinks Robert would never forgive him, Jack asks Andy if he's told him everything, Andy says that he has, Jack thinks that there will be no evidence for the police to arrest Andy or anyone else; Emily asks Lisa if she knows she is pregnant, Lisa doesn't want to tell Zak until she is sure, Lisa isn't sure if Zak would be pleased or not; Zoe is getting Joseph ready for school, Joseph says he is missing Frankie, Zoe tells Joseph that her and Chris are his family and family will always be there and that friends come and go; Zak is feeding the pigs, Zak asks Cain if he's going to make some money for the family today, Cain says maybe he will but he wants to borrow the van, Zak says he has to ask Lisa because it's her van, Cain thinks that Zak is the boss so he should be able to say if he can borrow it or not; a lady is walking her dog and finds Andy's gloves that he threw away after he lit the fire; Zak comes in and finds Lisa absent-mindedly stirring her tea, Zak asks her what's wrong, Lisa tells Zak that she might be pregnant, Zak thinks it's great news, Lisa thinks if she is pregnant it will be a big problem because she is the only one bringing money in; Bernice is painting her nails, Bernice asks Ashley to paint her nails for her, they kiss, Bernice and Ashley suddenly realise they cancelled the wedding and now they don't have a date for the wedding; Lisa and Zak come outside and find that the van is missing, Zak realises that Cain must have taken it and goes mad; Paddy comes across Bev unloading the van to move house, Bev seems to be managing alright on her own but asks Paddy to come along later to help; Robert is at Kathy's, Robert is wrapping up a present for Jack's birthday, Robert isn't sure whether to give Jack the present or not what with everything else that is going on, Kathy says they should have a surprise tea party for Jack's birthday; Ashley says the only date available for the wedding is Christmas Day, Ashley says it will be the best Christmas present he has ever had, Bernice and Ashley hug; Mrs Jarvis the dogwalker has handed the gloves into the police, DCI Harvey wants them sent to forensics straight away, Harvey says if they are Jack's and there's any trace of petrol on them they've got him;

PART TWO - Robert, Victoria and Kathy come home and start the preparations for Jack's birthday tea party; Paddy arrives at Bev's to help, she's left him a note to say that she's in the pub, Marlon and Tricia are kissing behind the bar when Paddy walks in looking for Bev, he thinks she's finished moving in and doesn't need his help, Bev says she's saved all the biggest boxes for Paddy; Lisa is scrubbing the floor when Cain walks in, Lisa and Zak are angry at him for borrowing the van, Cain says he was in a hurry, Lisa has lost a day's work because all her tools were in the van, Cain says the reason he had to borrow the van was because Lisa had nagged him about bringing some money in, Cain says some leather goods fell out of the back of a lorry into the van and Cain sold them to a market trader in Hotten and brought the money back for the housekeeping, Cain throws the van keys in the bucket of water and storms out; Paddy is helping Bev carry boxes into her house, Bev phones for a chinese takeaway for them; Jack and Andy come home, Kathy sings happy birthday to Jack, Jack looks very moved, Victoria says she wishes her mum was here; at the police station the forensic report has come back, the fibres found in the gloves correspond exactly with the fibres found in Jack's coat pocket and there is petrol on them, DCI Harvey thinks they have enough to arrest him, they leave for the Sugden's; Bev and Paddy has finished their takeaway, Bev reminds him he has to judge the science projects, Paddy leaves; Chris is eating his dinner with Zoe and Joseph, Zoe wants to have a special Christmas this year just the three of them; Jack makes Kathy promise that she will look after the kids if anything happens to him; Zak and Lisa talk about what the baby might be like, Lisa is really worried about how they will manage; Jack is lighting the candles on the cake, Victoria makes Jack have a wish when he blows the candles out, the police walk in, Brundel presents Jack with his gloves, he arrests him on suspicion of having murdered his wife Sarah;

PART ONE - The Dingles are having breakfast; Zak is annoying Lisa with his talk of babies; Lisa wants to talk to him about family planning; Zak looks horrified when Lisa suggests he should have a vasetomy; Kathy tries to convince the Sugden kids that everything will be ok with Jack; Andy is worried that Jack will go to jail for Sarah's murder; Chris reads in the newspaper that Jack has been arrested; Zoe wants Chris to finish early tomorrow to look at the Christmas lights; Chris reluctantly agrees; Chris phones Charity; Lisa asks Cain for a bit of privacy; Cain says he is sick of his room, he wants Sam's room; Cain says when Sam comes back he will move out; Zak agrees; Zak and Lisa make Cain leave so they can talk; Zak says he can't have a vasectomy; Zak and Lisa argue about it; Lisa says if he loved her he would do this small thing for her; Marlon drops a plate in the kitchen; Tricia comes in and asks if he is ok; Marlon is panicking that Chez Marlon will never open; Tricia tells Marlon he has to change the opening night to a different date because it is the same date as her wedding to Joe; Diane bumps into Kathy in the street and asks her about Jack; Kathy lets slip that before the police arrived to arrest Jack he made her promise to look after the kids if anything happened to him; Diane thinks that is very strange; Jack is being interviewed; Lucy Dyer, Jack's solicitor is also present; they start the questioning by asking Jack why he murdered his wife; Marlon and Tricia bump into Joe in the street; Marlon wants to know why he wasn't working on the diner renovations yesterday; Tricia sends him off and talks to Jason about Marlon not wanting to come to the wedding so they are short of a witness; nothing has been organised either so Tricia says that her and Joe will have to do it themselves; Emily tells Lisa she thinks it would be lovely if she was having another baby; Cain sees them whispering and thinks they are planning a party for him tomorrow; Cain surprises them by telling them it's his birthday tomorrow; Brundel asks Jack about his dire financial situation; they ask him about the burnt gloves, Jack says he had a bonfire to burn some garden rubbish, the gloves got burnt and he threw them away; Lucy Dyer asks for the interview to be suspended to give Jack a break; DCI Harvey agrees but tells Jack things are going to get much more stressful;

PART TWO - Diane has come round to see Richie; Diane asks Richie if Jack started the fire; Richie says of course he did; Richie says he didn't see him but who else could it have been; Richie realises that Diane thinks Jack did it; Diane leaves; Zak is pushing Belle on the swings; Seth comes over for a chat; Zak tells Seth about a relative of his who's wife wants him to have a vasectomy; Seth tells Zak lots of horror stories about it; Charity tells Terry that Chris called this morning and cancelled something they had set up for tomorrow; he said he would be seeing a bit less of her over the next few weeks; Charity is a bit worried that Chris is dumping her; Terry says that Chris would tell her if he was dumping her; Terry tells Charity the truth, that Zoe wants her and Chris and Joseph to play happy families over Christmas; Bernice asks Diane how she's coping; Bernice tries to reassure Diane that the police have just made a terrible mistake; Diane has doubts over Jack's innocence; Bernice is horrified that she could consider getting involved with a man who she thinks may have killed his wife; Diane says that she loves Jack; Bernice tells her there is another much more reliable man around ie Alan; Alan walks in and tries to comfort Diane; the police show Jack the gloves; Jack identifies them as his gloves; Jack says he can't remember where he threw them away; DCI Harvey implies he has all the evidence he needs to charge Jack; Zoe sees Charity coming out of Terry's; Zoe wants to know if there's been any particular reason why she's been visiting Terry; Jason meets Bev; Jason tells her he is Paddy's cousin ; Tricia and Alan introduce themselves to Bev; Tricia tells Bev not to talk to Alan about his motorbike because it's really boring; Bev seems very interested in it; Marlon tells Bev about Chez Marlon and that it will open soon; Zak and Lisa discover that Cain was going to throw all of Sam's stuff out; Cain tells Zak that Sam has gone for good; Zak wants him to store Sam's stuff until Sam comes back; Cain is rude to Lisa; Cain pushes Lisa; Zak steps in and pushes him onto the floor; Zak tells him to get out of his sight; Brundel and Harvey think they have a suspect; Harvey puts his scenario to Jack ; Jack protests; he did not kill Sarah; Brundel charges Jack with Sarah's murder and Richie's attempted murder; Zoe wants a word with Terry about Charity; Zoe tells Terry to be careful around Charity; Chris agrees; when Zoe leaves, Terry tells Chris that Charity was worried that Chris was going off her; Andy can't believe they've charged him; Kathy thinks Jack will be free tomorrow; Kathy tells them that Jack is innocent and they have to have faith; Lisa thought Cain was going to hit her; Zak says he'll have to go; Lisa says the problem is that Cain likes it here; Zak says he is not fit to be a guest in this guest; Lisa thinks they should throw a party for Cain's birthday tomorrow and invite Shadrach so that he can take Cain back to Leeds with him; Lisa and Zak toast good riddance to Cain;

Cain's birthday celebration does not go to plan and after nearly coming to blows with Shadrach, his Mum arrives and imparts a shocking revelation. Jack's magistrate appearance takes place and things are left looking grim.

PART ONE - at the Dingles Emily and Lisa are preparing the food for Cain's birthday party; Lisa can't wait to get rid of Cain; Zak says that Shadrach should arrive soon as he has promised him free ale; Cain walks into the room and asks what they're all doing; they all wish Cain a happy birthday; Cain isn't impressed; he wonders where Charity is; Emily says she's had to go out but wishes him a happy birthday; Cain walks off disappointed; Tricia asks Alan if he will be a witness at her wedding to Joe; Alan says no, he doesn't want anything to do with her sham wedding; Alan says he will escort her down the aisle when she gets married for real; Tricia says she hopes so as he will be paying for the wedding; Alan smiles; back at the Dingles Lisa and Emily are laying the table with food for Cain's birthday party; Shadrach arrives, Cain isn't pleased to see him; they give Cain his present; it's a St Christopher; Zak says he's the patron saint of travellers and symbolises the free spirit and the urge to travel; Cain says he doesn't want to go anywhere; Shadrach says he doesn't care as long as it's not Leeds; Zak and Lisa are worried their plan to get rid of Cain isn't working; in the court at Jack's bail hearing, Kathy is reassuring the boys that everything will be ok and that Jack is innocent; Diane comes in to the court; Jack asks his solicitor if there's a good chance he will be going home today; Jack is shocked to hear that Andy and Robert are in the court; he doesn't want them to see him like this; his solicitor reassures Jack that he has a pretty strong case; Zak and Shadrach are outside by the pigs talking about Cain; Shadrach can't believe he spawned a lad like Cain; Zak says he's not that bad; Zak tries to persuade Shadrach that Cain isn't suited to country life; Seth arrives for the party; Shadrach is annoyed that no girls are coming to the party; Seth and Zak open a can of beer and talk about the vasectomy; Zak pretends that Shadrach was the one who was thinking about getting it done; Chris is moaning to Terry about having to go Christmas shopping with Zoe and Joseph; Jack is in the dock at the court; he can see his family waiting on the other side of the court; the magistrates refuse him bail; Jack protests; Andy stands up and says Jack didn't do anything; Kathy pulls him back down; Jack is led away to the cells;

PART TWO - at the Dingles Cain and Shadrach are slumped in chairs half asleep; they don't seem to be talking so Seth decides to break the ice; he asks Shadrach if there was ever a Mrs Shadrach; he says she broke his heart and his collarbone; Cain refuses to go outside to get Shadrach a beer and calls him a drunken sot so Shadrach grabs him and looks for a fight but then backs off saying he's not worth it; Kathy comes in to the cell to see Jack; Jack breaks down and cries; Kathy says she will look after the kids; Jack doesn't know if he can handle all of this; Jack asks Kathy to tell the kids that he is ok; Shadrach is outside stealing all the cans of beer and chuckling to himself; Kathy tries to comfort the boys; Robert wants to see Jack and wants him to be home for Christmas; Kathy says it depends when the trial is; Emily goes into the barn at the Dingles to find a drunken Shadrach; Emily gives him a lecture on alcohol; Shadrach pounces on Emily and tells her she can't be a widow forever; Emily shouts at him to get off her; Zak comes in and grabs Shadrach off her; Zak wants Shadrach to leave but Emily manages to persuade him to stay for Cain's sake; Cain comes into the barn wanting to know who pinched all the beer from outside; Cain calls Shadrach a selfish parasite, Shadrach goes to hit him but Cain throws him down on the floor uncovering a lot of empty cans of beer; Cain tells him to get up; they are going to fight but Zak tries to pull Cain off Shadrach; they are interrupted by Faith Dingle arriving; she is Cain's mother; she says she's never missed one of his birthdays yet; she is not pleased to see Shadrach; Diane is in the backroom of the Woolpack crying; alan walks in and she tells him that Jack doesn't get bail; Diane says she feels so useless; The Tates have returned from Christmas shopping; Chris gives Terry the night off; the Dingles are all sitting round the table eating Cain's birthday tea; Shadrach keeps leering at Faith and she tells him she had enough of that when they were married; she has brought a present for Cain; it is a silk shirt; Cain has a go at Faith for showing up once a year with a useless gift; Faith says he's still wearing that leather jacket she gave him last year; Zak gives a speech and wishes Cain the best for the coming year and how lovely it is that he is reunited with his family; Shadrach burps really loudly; Cain storms off saying he's had enough; Lisa says they arranged all this so that he could enjoy himself; Cain says then why did they invite his mum and dad; Seth gets up to leave and says he had more fun at Butch's wake; Emily starts crying; Marlon and Alan are tasting wine to use in Chez Marlon; Frankie comes in and Tricia asks her if she would be chauffeur for the wedding and will video the whole thing for them too and they want her to be a witness aswell; Frankie says it might look a bit suspicious if one person does everything at the wedding; they agree to try and find another witness; Shadrach is asleep on the chair cuddling one of the dogs and drooling; Lisa goes off to bed and tells Zak to talk to Faith to try and persuade her to take Cain with her; Faith and Zak are the only ones left up; Zoe takes Joseph up to bed; Chris thanks her and says they should do things like this more often; Faith tells Zak why she got married to Shadrach, she got pregnant; Faith and Zak obviously have a history; she asks him what would have happened if they'd have taken things further; Faith says she doesn't regret the night they spent together; it was the only real night of passion she had in her marriage; Zak says Shadrach isn't that bad; Zak tells Faith that Lisa and Cain don't get on; Faith says Cain worships Zak; Zak says Cain is a real nightmare; he wants to get shot of him; Faith tells Zak that Cain is his son;

PART ONE - At the Tates Zoe is putting her coat on ready to go out; she's got a backlog of work at the vets and she's on call tonight; Chris tells Terry to pick up Joseph from school and take him and the nanny to Harrogate to go and see Santa and for dinner afterwards; Chris says he has other plans so he's not going with them; Marlon is reading the Hotten Courier; the headline is "Murder: Suspect Held";Tricia says she is running out of people to ask to be a witness at her wedding; Marlon says Jack has more important things on his mind that Tricia's wedding; Marlon thinks Betty doesn't project the right image for the restaurant; he tries to work out how to sack her; Cain and Faith are having breakfast at the Dingles; Shadrach is still asleep on the chair; Faith and Cain go upstairs; Zak didn't go to bed last night; Lisa presumes Zak didn't have any luck persuading Faith to take him back with her; Zak says he needs to think things over; he goes off to the Sugden Farm to see if there is anything he can do to help; Zoe and Paddy are leaving the vets; Tricia asks them if either of them will be witnesses for her wedding; they both say no; Betty calls round to see Marlon; Marlon tries unsuccessfully to sack Betty; Betty thinks he wanted her to press his linen; Chris gives Terry some money for his shopping; Terry thinks Charity would be more into beer and chips than champagne; Virginia comes in looking for Tara; she is nowhere to be found; there is an important client arriving at the Stud Farm this afternoon who wants to meet one of the directors; Chris says he won't do it as he has an important client of his own to prepare for; at the Dingles Emily is worried as Shadrach hasn't moved all morning; she wants to call a doctor; Cain says the only shame is that he is still breathing; Cain says he's no use to anyone; Zak comes in; Faith decides to leave before Shadrach wakes up; Cain refuses to carry her bag to the bus stop; Zak says he will; he whispers to Faith that they need to talk; Lisa looks concerned; Tricia comes home to find Betty ironing; Marlon is on the phone having problems with some deliveries; Tricia realises that Marlon hasn't sacked Betty yet; the phone rings; Betty answers it; it is someone asking about waitress interviews tomorrow; Betty introduces herself as the head waitress; Marlon and Tricia look horrified; Betty says she has promised Kathy that she would look after the kids while Kathy goes to visit Jack; Betty tells Marlon not to worry that she will be back as soon as she can; Betty tells Tricia that Marlon doesn't seem to be able to manage without her; Faith and Zak are outside; Faith tells Zak that he is the only chance Cain has; Faith says that Cain respects him; Zak says he's not so sure he can handle him; Zak has always said that family are the most important thing; here's his chance to prove it; Faith wishes him luck, he's going to need it;

PART TWO - Bev comes into the vets to see Paddy; she wants to see how he's getting on with judging the science projects; Paddy hasn't had a chance to look at them yet; Bev invites Paddy and Zoe to the Woolpack for lunch; Kathy is visiting Jack; Kathy asks what his cell mate is like; Jack says he hasn't talked to him much yet; Jack is worried about the kids and how the gossip around the village will affect them; Kathy thinks it's all been a horrible mistake; Jack worries what will happen if he does go down for Sarah's murder; kathy promises that the only person she will give the kids up to is Jack; Jack doesn't want them visiting for a while; he says it's no place for kids and maybe they should get used to being without him; Tricia still hasn't found a witness; Adam volunteers; Terry chats to Charity in the pub; Virginia comes in and talks to Zoe about the important client coming this afternoon; Zoe tells Virginia that this is her chance to prove herself and that she should deal with the client herself; at the Sugden's Robert asks how Jack was; Kathy tells them that Jack misses them all; Kathy tells the boys that Jack doesn't want to see anyone right now; Andy says there are some things that can never be put right; Emily has made Shadrach some soup and spoon feeds him; Shadrach is sick; Emily takes him upstairs; Cain says he won't help him; he thinks Shadrach is a disgrace; Cain says he won't show Shadrach any respect because respect needs to be earnt; Cain says at least Zak's lads knew they had Dales champion for a father, all Shadrach is champion of is drinking; Chris and Charity are having a drink together at Home Farm; Chris talks to Charity about his father; Chris says no matter how hard he tried he always disappointed him; Chris says he doesn't trust anyone after what Kim did to his father; Chris and Charity kiss; at the vets Adam has given up his afternoon off to work; Virginia pops in to tell Zoe that the client loved the Stud and hands over a contract for Zoe to put in the safe; Zoe congratulates Virginia; Zak is sitting in the barn thinking; Lisa comes to find him; she guesses he's been worrying about Cain; Lisa says Cain may be trouble but with a father like that he's never really had a chance; Lisa says Zak is the only person he looks up to and can set him straight; Lisa thinks maybe they should give him another chance; Chris and Charity are still kissing; there is a knock at the door; Charity goes to hide in the kitchen ; it's Marlon; Chris tells Marlon to get lost; Zoe comes through the back door and sees Charity; she presumes Charity has broken in; Chris comes in and explains that him and Charity were trying to be discreet; Chris takes Charity's hand and kisses it; Chris says he was getting bored of hiding things from her; Zoe looks shocked;
